Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses | | Classrooms were not provided for 2 classes so children had to sit on floor to have snacks and lunch. We were provided with free animal handling workshop as playground was unsafe for use. Large machinery was on site and we had not been informed. | 25 March 2022 |
Science Museum | | The group entrance was not identified prior visiting, but the staff were accommodating and allowed us entry so we could get to the Pattern Pod for the remaining time we had booked. The booklets provided were brilliant, really helpful as cues for the children and staff walking around the exhibition. | 25 March 2022 |

Hatton Gallery: Great North Museum - Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums | | The children were divided into two manegable groups and were led by members of the gallery. These members of staff were knowledgeable and supportive. Our children were also given extra art to take home as well as given the opportunity to do virtual art at a different time. Thank you for this opportunity. The children were amazed at being able to see the real Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe. | 24 March 2022 |

Nissan staff members were helpful and and knowledgeable. The tasks for the children were appropriate and challenging. Pprizes were also given for the tasks which gave the children an incentive. | 24 March 2022 |

YHA Hartington | | An excellent facility. The only point stopping them getting a 5th star is that we'd given them meal times at their request and we still ended up eating breakfast at the same time as the other guests which wasn't ideal for the other guests or school as there weren't enough seats. A wonderful stay all round and the staff were brilliant. | 24 March 2022 |
National Railway Museum | | Excellent trip, enjoyed by all. | 24 March 2022 |

Magna Science Centre | | There were issues with the event regarding health and safety unfortunately.
The main picnic area was the only place upstairs, which led straight on to the open area containing the furnis etc. The area was not manned initially, and a student had broken the door leading on to this area. Loads of students heard about this and got into the area (which could have been potentially very dangerous).
I feel a more suitable area for picnics could be planned.
Also, when I asked the member of staff on arrival where I could tell my students where I would be if they needed me - they told me to tell them a name of a café that was not then seen anywhere! This caused great confusion. Could I suggest that this information could be sent out prior to the date (as all other communication has been fantastic) so I could inform my students on the coach before entering the venue.
A map emailed beforehand would also be helpful. Staff could then photocopy for their students.
The ladies I spoke to in orange tops were helpful and shut down the dangerous picnic room.
Thanks. | 24 March 2022 |

Adaptable Travel | | Adaptable Travel supported our itinerary suggestions and worked well to ensure this was actioned and planned. However, regarding Covid details, such as testing, support about booking testing centres and keeping us up to date - we had to chase this up with the company rather than them being forward in communicating with us, which was rather stressful as the guidance kept changing. They did provide excellent assistance at the airport as we were delayed for several hours and worked to amend out visit to best fir these unforeseen changes. | 24 March 2022 |

Lee Valley Regional Park Learning and Engagement | | The chronological context activities were highly informative these included the time that humans have been on earth within the overall timeline of the planet and a timeline of key human developments. Children were able to draw with charcoal by candle light as though they were in a cave. They enjoyed the spark making however there were long periods of inactivity for children while the others in their group attempted to make sparks. This lead to restlessness and some low level behaviour issues. This may have been nice as a split activity with some children doing a holding task while others took part in the spark making. They learnt about animals who would have walked the earth at the same time. We also looked at fossils to develop an understanding of how historians and archaeologists use primary and secondary data.
The activities were largely classroom based which minimised the overall wow factor however this was still a mostly engaging day. The main issue with the day arose during the hunter/gatherer activity during which children were provided with a sheet to help identify plants that existed both then and now and information about how they would have been used. The identifying information and the image were taken in spring or summer however plants were bare and had not yet bloomed. As such children struggled to identify the plants and consequently did not get much from this activity. This activity needed to be changed for the season and may have been more engaging if the children had attempted to mimic using plants in the way that they were used during the Stone Age. | 23 March 2022 |
