A vast array of activities to do for all ages and most area of study. The length and areas viewed would be diferent depending on age and subject being viewed. In most areas of the museum, there are interactive devices students can explore. (November 2024 - Secondary School)

The girls loved the trip and everything went smoothly.
For next year..ensure the garden is booked, try and book the workshop for the morning rather than last thing of the day- this will mean we can leave whenever we are ready rather than waiting for this (it overran slightly). Lockers are in an awkward place- parents went and got lunch bags which worked well. At the end of the day, it was really busy trying to get the coats out and sort them. Might have been easier to have collected all high vis jackets before giving out the coats and then re-giving out the high vis. This is because the girls were trying to take too many things on and off all in one place. As adult spaces are free for this trip, book for more parents- doesn't hurt having more support on the train and 1A had two parents turn up last minute as they were nervous about travel on the District Line
Overall, the girls loved the trip and it complimented our topic perfectly. (March 2024 - Primary School)

The Science Museum booking was overly complicated- the free Wonderlab gallery, was ticketed but no-one explained this on arrival at the Museum, or at time of booking, so our children could not access this on the day. Travel was horrendous (3.5 hours to get back from the museum so too long a journey for Year 2.) (October 2023 - Primary School)

There is so much to do, so I would strongly recommend a teacher visit beforehand to plan which galleries would be most suitable. Select a maximum of three or four galleries or activities that you want to do. Anything more will definitely be unmanageable. (June 2023 - Primary School & Secondary School)

(March 2023 - Primary School)
The Science museum cannot book the iMAX until ~ 6 weeks before a visit. This is too late as in order to ensure students can use the Wonderlab we need to book when tickets become available (~ 6 months before the visit) and the letter to parents / guardians for payment is sent before the iMAX can be confirmed/ (March 2023 - Secondary School)
In order to ensure we have access to the Wonderlab the trip needs to be booked in Oct/Nov but at this time it is not possible to book the iMAX as the Science museum does not release dates until ~ 6 weeks before a date which is after we need to ask for payments. We will not book the iMAX but spend more time in the galleries. (March 2023 - Secondary School)

The trip was a success. The workshop was fun and engaging and the children were very excited to explore the areas we had booked. I had planned a large window of time to arrive at the museum which worked out well as there was a lot of traffic due to the tube strikes so we ended up being only about 15-20 minutes late. Loads to see and there are good resources online that can be used whilst you're visiting. The wonderlab is Great! It's interactive and the students are able to get really involved in the different exhibits and activities. The venue itself is fantastic and offers a wide variety of areas for study. It makes an excellent place to demonstrate what pupils have studied in the classroom and how it can be utilised in real world scenarios.
There is a good variety of interactive exhibits and workshops which were excellent in providing specialist knowledge and engagement for younger year groups (like LKS2)
There are some excellent links to other subjects like Design, Computing, Humanities and Citizenship.
The venue is vast however getting around is easy and it is not difficult to manage larger groups around the museum due to having plenty of open spaces, toilets and meeting spaces.
The only main consideration would be the maturity of the pupils attending as the younger pupils may struggle to comprehend a lot of the content unless the teacher has strong subject knowledge and can explain to them what they are looking at. Be aware that seating for lunch breaks is first come, first serve as the museum does not allocated zones or time slots. As such, I would recommend structuring your day to have breaks later or earlier than you would do at school (June 2022 - Primary School)

An excellent visit - especially the Wonderlab (March 2022 - Secondary School)
The museum is excellent, with plenty to see. I would recommend to obtain a map and plan the route beforehand and also to book tickets for the Wonderlab, as this is an interactive section of the museum. Unfortunately, it was booked nine months in advance, so we were unable to buy any tickets for our visit.
(March 2022 - Secondary School)
There was plenty to see in the museum and the IMAX experience was amazing. Unfortunately, we could not get tickets for the Wonder Lab as it had a long waiting list. I would recommend planning the trip beforehand, as we lost some time deciding where to go first. (March 2022 - Secondary School)
Busy, but pupils able to access galleries and exhibits.
Who am I exhibition was fantastic for allowing the pupils to be hands on etc. (March 2022 - Primary School)
The kids absolutely loved the Wonderlab and it was clear that it helped the science to come alive. They all used scientific enquiry whilst carrying out activities.
They also enjoyed the Space exhibit. Many of the children had never been to the Science Museum before but definitely want to go back. (March 2022 - Primary School)
Interesting and easy to lead group around.
Lots of the experiences were pay only, so they children were not able to interact with them. (March 2022 - Primary School)
The group entrance was not identified prior visiting, but the staff were accommodating and allowed us entry so we could get to the Pattern Pod for the remaining time we had booked. The booklets provided were brilliant, really helpful as cues for the children and staff walking around the exhibition. (March 2022 - Primary School)
Check in was fast, communication was excellent. (March 2022 - Secondary School)
As ever a great museum and a great experience for all children. (March 2022 - Primary School)
All students were engaged and learnt so much from the experience. For some of them it was their first time using public transport so going through ticket stiles, waiting for trains, checking timetables and learning how to behave on public transport were great life skills. In the Science Museum, the students went to an interactive exhibition which most found enjoyable and got involved in wandering around and trying new experiments. (March 2022 - Secondary School)
Overall the trip went well.
However the following incident occurred with one of our SEN children:
1. On the way to the station Z refused to walk in the line because he saw Morrison's and wanted to go there. Nabiha used diversion strategies to gain his attention which didn't work as Dad didn't give it time and started pulling him by the arm and passively saying 'Let's go'. Zeeshan broke free of Dad and ran into the main road with an oncoming bus and car. Nabiha and Dad threw themselves into the road to grab him without first checking the road for their own safety.
2. Zeeshan didn't follow the class at the entrance to the museum because he noticed the ice cream van and wouldn't cooperate so Dad bought him one.
3. Upon entering the museum to catch up with the class they had to pass the gift shop. Zeeshan wanted as many things as he could have - Dad paid twice (perhaps up to £100).
4. Followed by security guards who thought Dad and Nabiha might be harming him. A member of public might have told Z to SSShhhhh and Dad said "Shut up you don't know what he's going through".
(March 2022 - Primary School)
Not the first visit. A success for year 7 students. They also appreciated the little free time in the museum shop. Next time, tell them they can bring some pocket money if they want to buy anything in the Science Museum. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

An excellent venue for a school trip. The children could link their learning about space to the exhibits in the space gallery and gather more information about future work about the possibility of living on other planets in the solar system. In addition, the Wonder Lab kept the children engaged in exploration about different aspects of science including chemistry (state of matter), physics (forces) and visualising how planets and other celestial bodies move in space. Amazing. The activities of the Wonderlab was the children's favourite activity. They also provided a free show which was excellent and they also enjoyed the Imax. Good for younger students but the captions were dumbed down so much that some of them were bordering on incorrect physics. (June 2019 - Secondary School)
(June 2019 - Primary School)
Good range of things, though some of the physics explanations were written in such a "dumbed down" way for significantly younger students that they bordered on incorrect. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

(March 2019 - Primary School)
The Science Museum was fantatic and the children had an amazing time.

So interactive and engaging for all pupils. Very well organised. (March 2019 - Primary School)
Shakeel needs a 1-1 on the next school trip due to his inability to follow instructions due to the change of routine.
Try and get parents that are DBS checked - Confirm this the day before as we had someone not turn up. (March 2019 - Primary School)
Great trip - easy to get to and used to having large school groups. Had crates that we could put our bags and coats in which were locked, but we could get access to easily when needed.
The venue was busy with other trips and involved quite a lot of walking to the basement.
Girls were well behaved and we found space to eat easily downstairs in the picnic area.
They had staff on hand to support where necessary.
