The venue itself is fantastic and offers a wide variety of areas for study. It makes an excellent place to demonstrate what pupils have studied in the classroom and how it can be utilised in real world scenarios. There is a good variety of interactive exhibits and workshops which were excellent in providing specialist knowledge and engagement for younger year groups (like LKS2) There are some excellent links to other subjects like Design, Computing, Humanities and Citizenship. The venue is vast however getting around is easy and it is not difficult to manage larger groups around the museum due to having plenty of open spaces, toilets and meeting spaces. The only main consideration would be the maturity of the pupils attending as the younger pupils may struggle to comprehend a lot of the content unless the teacher has strong subject knowledge and can explain to them what they are looking at. Be aware that seating for lunch breaks is first come, first serve as the museum does not allocated zones or time slots. As such, I would recommend structuring your day to have breaks later or earlier than you would do at school (June 2022 - Primary School)

An excellent visit - especially the Wonderlab (March 2022 - Secondary School)

The museum is excellent, with plenty to see. I would recommend to obtain a map and plan the route beforehand and also to book tickets for the Wonderlab, as this is an interactive section of the museum. Unfortunately, it was booked nine months in advance, so we were unable to buy any tickets for our visit. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

There was plenty to see in the museum and the IMAX experience was amazing. Unfortunately, we could not get tickets for the Wonder Lab as it had a long waiting list. I would recommend planning the trip beforehand, as we lost some time deciding where to go first. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

Busy, but pupils able to access galleries and exhibits. Who am I exhibition was fantastic for allowing the pupils to be hands on etc. (March 2022 - Primary School)

The kids absolutely loved the Wonderlab and it was clear that it helped the science to come alive. They all used scientific enquiry whilst carrying out activities. They also enjoyed the Space exhibit. Many of the children had never been to the Science Museum before but definitely want to go back. (March 2022 - Primary School)

Interesting and easy to lead group around. Lots of the experiences were pay only, so they children were not able to interact with them. (March 2022 - Primary School)

The group entrance was not identified prior visiting, but the staff were accommodating and allowed us entry so we could get to the Pattern Pod for the remaining time we had booked. The booklets provided were brilliant, really helpful as cues for the children and staff walking around the exhibition. (March 2022 - Primary School)

Check in was fast, communication was excellent. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

As ever a great museum and a great experience for all children. (March 2022 - Primary School)

All students were engaged and learnt so much from the experience. For some of them it was their first time using public transport so going through ticket stiles, waiting for trains, checking timetables and learning how to behave on public transport were great life skills. In the Science Museum, the students went to an interactive exhibition which most found enjoyable and got involved in wandering around and trying new experiments. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

Overall the trip went well. However the following incident occurred with one of our SEN children: 1. On the way to the station Z refused to walk in the line because he saw Morrison's and wanted to go there. Nabiha used diversion strategies to gain his attention which didn't work as Dad didn't give it time and started pulling him by the arm and passively saying 'Let's go'. Zeeshan broke free of Dad and ran into the main road with an oncoming bus and car. Nabiha and Dad threw themselves into the road to grab him without first checking the road for their own safety. 2. Zeeshan didn't follow the class at the entrance to the museum because he noticed the ice cream van and wouldn't cooperate so Dad bought him one. 3. Upon entering the museum to catch up with the class they had to pass the gift shop. Zeeshan wanted as many things as he could have - Dad paid twice (perhaps up to £100). 4. Followed by security guards who thought Dad and Nabiha might be harming him. A member of public might have told Z to SSShhhhh and Dad said "Shut up you don't know what he's going through". (March 2022 - Primary School)

Not the first visit. A success for year 7 students. They also appreciated the little free time in the museum shop. Next time, tell them they can bring some pocket money if they want to buy anything in the Science Museum. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

This was the first museum visited, as a result, the students were very excited, they seemed to enjoy the interactive exhibits the most. (March 2022 - Secondary School)

Been 3 times, The first and second time really impressed, lack of organised this time (March 2020 - Primary School)

As always, the children were very engaged and excited to be around the exhibitions. The interactive activities, though limited, provided additional motivation and engagement from the pupils. It was a shame that the exhibition around Materials, which is closely linked with our school topic, was not available at the time. (March 2020 - Primary School)

(February 2020 - Primary School)

Our students did not really enjoy the Code Breaking exhibition, I think that this was due to it being very factual and not hands on. (February 2020 - Secondary School)

(February 2020 - Primary School)

Really good first experience of walking to local attractions as part of the new PGP living curriculum. High staff:pupil ratio needed to escort children and ensure safety as the museum is a busy attraction. (February 2020 - Primary School)

Easy to organise - helpful staff and resources available online to use on the day of the trip. (February 2020 - Primary School)

(December 2019 - Primary School)

An excellent venue for a school trip. The children could link their learning about space to the exhibits in the space gallery and gather more information about future work about the possibility of living on other planets in the solar system. In addition, the Wonder Lab kept the children engaged in exploration about different aspects of science including chemistry (state of matter), physics (forces) and visualising how planets and other celestial bodies move in space. (June 2019 - Primary School)

Amazing. The activities of the Wonderlab was the children's favourite activity. They also provided a free show which was excellent and they also enjoyed the Imax. I feel they all improved their learning from the visit although some students gained more than others as they were more interested in the science behind the exhibits. Brilliant overall - a shame that we booked for a day where we could not go to one of the exhibits, but we now know that Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for secondary schools (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Good for younger students but the captions were dumbed down so much that some of them were bordering on incorrect physics. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

(June 2019 - Primary School)

Good range of things, though some of the physics explanations were written in such a "dumbed down" way for significantly younger students that they bordered on incorrect. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Since the update to the wonderlab it is much more primary friendly. The workshop we attended covered a whole term's worth of science and reinforced the learning that had already occurred in school fantastically. (May 2019 - Primary School)

Overall, it was a fantastic day and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Activities at the museum were spot on. (May 2019 - Secondary School)

The workshop was ok but could have been more interactive. (May 2019 - Primary School)

The lunch seating area is not big enough to accommodate all the schools during visit - plan carefully. Wonderlab is a must! (May 2019 - Primary School)

Children were able to consolidate their learning. A great Fabulous Finish (May 2019 - Primary School)

lOTS TO DO AND GREAT STAFF INVOLVEMENT - GREAT FACILITIES FOR LUNCH AND EASY ACCESS FROM SOUTH KENSINGTON STATION (May 2019 - Primary School)

(May 2019 - Primary School)

(May 2019 - Primary School)

Birilliant workshop about Forces and Space. (no electricity workshops available at the time) The wonderlab area gave children the freedom to explore a range of scientific concepts both independently and with peers. (May 2019 - Primary School)

Plenty of hands on activity, if i went again i would look at doing some of the more interactive activities. (May 2019 - Secondary School)

(March 2019 - Primary School)

(March 2019 - Primary School)

It was great for the girls to see many of the different aspects of Space and the ISS that we had been discussing in class. (March 2019 - Primary School)

(March 2019)

A few of the exhibits are looking a little tired now e.g. Space. (March 2019 - Primary School)

(March 2019 - Primary School)

The Science Museum was fantatic and the children had an amazing time. Unfortunately we were stuck in a queue on the motorway for 30 minutes, which led to the driver requiring a 30-minute break, so we only ended up with 2 hours at the museum. (March 2019 - Primary School)

So interactive and engaging for all pupils. Very well organised. (March 2019 - Primary School)

Shakeel needs a 1-1 on the next school trip due to his inability to follow instructions due to the change of routine. Try and get parents that are DBS checked - Confirm this the day before as we had someone not turn up. (March 2019 - Primary School)

Great trip - easy to get to and used to having large school groups. Had crates that we could put our bags and coats in which were locked, but we could get access to easily when needed. The venue was busy with other trips and involved quite a lot of walking to the basement. Girls were well behaved and we found space to eat easily downstairs in the picnic area. They had staff on hand to support where necessary. (March 2019 - Primary School)

Brilliant activities planned for the children and there was enough to do during the whole time we were there. Children had a great experience at the museum visiting the galleries, wonderlab and shows. (March 2019 - Primary School)

(January 2019 - Primary School)

(December 2018 - Secondary School)

The children loved it although presentation was not so relevant. (December 2018 - Primary School)

Galleries were appropriate for age/ability. Support for visually impaired student was non existant despite being informed in advance that large print gallery guides would be available for the student. Very disappointing! (December 2018 - Secondary School)

The children were engaged from the start and there was no time left for them to go idle. They particularly enjoyed the carousel of activities offered in the Wonderlab. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to explore each station. (December 2018 - Primary School)

As such, I would recommend structuring your day to have breaks later or earlier than you would do at school

March 2022 - Secondary School
An excellent visit - especially the Wonderlab

March 2022 - Secondary School
The museum is excellent, with plenty to see. I would recommend to obtain a map and plan the route beforehand and also to book tickets for the Wonderlab, as this is an interactive section of the museum. Unfortunately, it was booked nine months in advance, so we were unable to buy any tickets for our visit.

March 2022 - Secondary School
There was plenty to see in the museum and the IMAX experience was amazing. Unfortunately, we could not get tickets for the Wonder Lab as it had a long waiting list. I would recommend planning the trip beforehand, as we lost some time deciding where to go first.

March 2022 - Primary School
Busy, but pupils able to access galleries and exhibits. Who am I exhibition was fantastic for allowing the pupils to be hands on etc.

March 2022 - Primary School
The kids absolutely loved the Wonderlab and it was clear that it helped the science to come alive. They all used scientific enquiry whilst carrying out activities. They also enjoyed the Space exhibit. Many of the children had never been to the Science Museum before but definitely want to go back.

March 2022 - Primary School
Interesting and easy to lead group around. Lots of the experiences were pay only, so they children were not able to interact with them.

March 2022 - Primary School
The group entrance was not identified prior visiting, but the staff were accommodating and allowed us entry so we could get to the Pattern Pod for the remaining time we had booked. The booklets provided were brilliant, really helpful as cues for the children and staff walking around the exhibition.

March 2022 - Secondary School
Check in was fast, communication was excellent.

March 2022 - Primary School
As ever a great museum and a great experience for all children.

March 2022 - Secondary School
All students were engaged and learnt so much from the experience. For some of them it was their first time using public transport so going through ticket stiles, waiting for trains, checking timetables and learning how to behave on public transport were great life skills. In the Science Museum, the students went to an interactive exhibition which most found enjoyable and got involved in wandering around and trying new experiments.

March 2022 - Primary School

March 2022 - Secondary School
Not the first visit. A success for year 7 students. They also appreciated the little free time in the museum shop. Next time, tell them they can bring some pocket money if they want to buy anything in the Science Museum.

March 2022 - Secondary School

As always, the children were very engaged and excited to be around the exhibitions. The interactive activities, though limited, provided additional motivation and engagement from the pupils. February 2020 - Secondary School
Our students did not really enjoy the Code Breaking exhibition, I think that this was due to it being very factual and not hands on.

February 2020 - Primary School

February 2020 - Primary School
Really good first experience of walking to local attractions as part of the new PGP living curriculum. High staff:pupil ratio needed to escort children and ensure safety as the museum is a busy attraction.

December 2019 - Primary School
An excellent venue for a school trip. The children could link their learning about space to the exhibits in the space gallery and gather more information about future work about the possibility of living on other planets in the solar system. In addition, the Wonder Lab kept the children engaged in exploration about different aspects of science including chemistry (state of matter), physics (forces) and visualising how planets and other celestial bodies move in space.

July 2019 - Secondary School
It was amazing and lots to discover. Students enjoyed the hands on experience on different activities. Hubble 3 D was a real eye-opener and made students realise that fixing something in space is extremely risky.

June 2019 - Secondary School
Amazing. The activities of the Wonderlab was the children's favourite activity. They also provided a free show which was excellent and they also enjoyed the Imax. June 2019 - Secondary School
Brilliant overall - a shame that we booked for a day where we could not go to one of the exhibits, but we now know that Tuesdays and Thursdays are reserved for secondary schools

June 2019 - Secondary School
Good for younger students but the captions were dumbed down so much that some of them were bordering on incorrect physics.

June 2019 - Primary School

June 2019 - Secondary School
Good range of things, though some of the physics explanations were written in such a "dumbed down" way for significantly younger students that they bordered on incorrect.

Since the update to the wonderlab it is much more primary friendly. The workshop we attended covered a whole term's worth of science and reinforced the learning that had already occurred in school fantastically.

May 2019 - Secondary School
Overall, it was a fantastic day and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Activities at the museum were spot on.

May 2019 - Primary School
The workshop was ok but could have been more interactive.

May 2019 - Primary School
The lunch seating area is not big enough to accommodate all the schools during visit - plan carefully. Wonderlab is a must!

March 2019 - Primary School

March 2019 - Primary School
The Science Museum was fantatic and the children had an amazing time. Unfortunately we were stuck in a queue on the motorway for 30 minutes, which led to the driver requiring a 30-minute break, so we only ended up with 2 hours at the museum.

March 2019 - Primary School
So interactive and engaging for all pupils. Very well organised.

March 2019 - Primary School
Shakeel needs a 1-1 on the next school trip due to his inability to follow instructions due to the change of routine. Try and get parents that are DBS checked - Confirm this the day before as we had someone not turn up.

March 2019 - Primary School
Great trip - easy to get to and used to having large school groups. Had crates that we could put our bags and coats in which were locked, but we could get access to easily when needed. The venue was busy with other trips and involved quite a lot of walking to the basement. Girls were well behaved and we found space to eat easily downstairs in the picnic area. They had staff on hand to support where necessary.

March 2019 - Primary School
Brilliant activities planned for the children and there was enough to do during the whole time we were there. Children had a great experience at the museum visiting the galleries, wonderlab and shows.

December 2018 - Primary School
