The zoo was empty of animals. Most enclosures were empty for cleaning or just no animals available to see. The zoo train ride is no longer available in the week only runs at the weekend. I would not return for a school trip. (April 2024)

All of the children enjoyed the day. Signage was clear and easy to follow and staff helpful. Plenty of space to sit down to have a picnic lunch. The Amazing Animals Show was a highlight which the children enjoyed. (July 2022 - Primary School)

The visit went well The lift was not working in the Giraffe house which meant my wheelchair using students had a long trek round to the ramp.It would have been helpful to have known this on entry. (July 2022 - Secondary School)

The workshop that we did about Lifecycles (Cubs, Nymphs and Larvae) was informative and presented by a very enthusiastic member of the education team. The children enriched their understanding of the topic and had a chance to handle some of the animals in a safe environment. (June 2022 - Primary School)

It was a lovely day and the facilities were great. It would have been nice to have somewhere to store our bags while we toured. It was nice to go on a weekday when the area wasn't so crowded as it made the animals more accessible (visibly) to the children. The workshop was good for the children to have ands-on experiences. Having been told that many enclosures were open (a day before the visit), many were in fact closed. Some enclosed spaces- (iguana and lemurs) were open, and some open air spaces (giraffe walk) was closed. I therefore assume this was not for Covid reasons. 4 schools were visiting that day and we had to avoid numerous gardening vehicles driving on the walkways. The website stated that morning that the Eureka exhibit was open, it was not! On arrival, I asked for confirmation that the bird display was showing at 11.30 and was told we could go at 11.30,12.30, or 2.30. On arrival at the arena at 11.30, the sign clearly stated shows at 12.30 or 2.30. Because of this, and the fact that the gates were shut, we assumed there was no show at 11.30. This was not the case- I had not been told that the show at 11.30 was for schools and was not advertised to the public. Thankfully they squeezed us in at 12.30. We thoroughly enjoyed our day out at the zoo. The zoo had plenty of toilet facilities which was great and there were plenty of things to see. There were lots of available places to picnic, although I think we could have been in trouble if it was raining. We really enjoyed the bird display that they put on and we were very grateful for the trail booklets and pencils we received on arrival. It was just a shame they could not offer any educational workshops as they had building renovations going out. Overall it was a brilliant day out and was enjoyed by all who attended. Really great day out and so many animals to see allowing us to think about different habitats and animal classifications. Parts of the zoo were shut, such as an area where we would normally have lunch however the zoo were very accommodating. There were clear signs for one way systems and Covid ready precautions. Year 4 experienced a wonderful day out at Banham Zoo on Thursday 10th June. They were able to explore the habitats, conservation projects and animals across the world. We have since completed several pieces of follow up work on the trip and it was well worth the visit. (June 2021 - Primary School)
Banham is a fantastic location for a wide variety of subjects, from Science to Business. The staff are friendly and well informed. It gave our students a good opportunity to understand a social enterprise rather than a standard profit making business. (June 2021 - Secondary School)

Fantastic trip for our Year 1 class. The children were engaged the whole way around the zoo. It was a fun filled day of learning and fresh air.
The zoo provided adequate hand washing facilities, plenty of toilet throughout the zoo and a great lunch area to sit and eat.

The zoo has certainly improved over the past few years which is lovely as there was a variety of animals for my children to explore and learn more about. The children enjoyed the talks given by the keepers at feeding time, the Amazing Animal Show, seeing Father Christmas and the food. The catering staff cooked hot meals for everyone and made sure everyone had enough.

Discovery session - children had to be very patient whilst waiting to hold/stroke the animals - might be better to have an activity to complete whilst waiting.
They didn't take note of phobias even though they asked if anyone had any phobias. They didn't warn the person that they were bringing out the animal and didn't give them a chance to leave or move away from it. (March 2018 - Primary School)
