The event was very well organised. We were escorted to each location so there was minimal disruption of finding the places and the time for each activity was maximised. The staff were friendly and helpful. The school was designated an area within the museum to set up, put coats/bags and eat lunch. This was useful with 60 children as they were in one area and toilet trips could be well planned and organised with the other teachers on the trip. On the whole the students enjoyed their visit and it helped re-enforce knowledge for their GCSE. Their were some areas which I hoped would have been included but weren't but in discussion with the Education Officer at the castle it emerged that the plans were to include these areas but the deliverer had omitted them and focused on less relevant things which was a shame. However, the Education Officer said that staffing issues should be resolved soon and should not be repeated. Overall it did help the students learn knowledge in a new setting. The drama presentations/role play added to the atmosphere and the posing of critical thinking questions throughout the day really encouraged the children to think about discovering information about the past from different angles and depths.
