Very informative workshop on African mammals! Well worth the additional fee of £100 per class. Majority of animals on site visible and well-looked after and the site was safe and secure. A great trip where the students experienced viewing many of the animals both adult and young. They learnt about the environments that the animals were kept in, endangered species, why the animals were protected in the zoo and where the animals came from. I found the zoo was incredibly busy on the day and there were far too many schools who were also there the same day we were. It made looking at the enclosures very difficult because there were so many crowds from other schools. There also weren't many animals to be seen and many of the enclosures seemed empty. There was very limited space with the picnic areas for our 90 children to go due to the sheer amount of other schools and families there that day. I would highly recommend in the future limiting the amount of schools that go on trips to Twycross on one day. (July 2022 - Primary School)

KS1 children had a great day. They loved seeing the animals, learning about them and doing lots of walking! They also loved the Gruffalo walk and the play equipment outside. It was great in small groups with lots of adults as the children really bonded and felt relaxed. It was good for well being and a brilliant reward at the end of the year. A super day out! Twycross is well organised. It was just a shame so many animals could not be seen! (April 2022 - Primary School)

Not many exhibits had animals in them - either empty or under refurbishment. (March 2022 - Primary School)

The arrival and registration took far too long. The children were waiting for over 20 minutes to begin their tour of the zoo (March 2022 - Primary School)

Excellent trip for younger pupils - Zoo is so clean and safe for all abilities and pathways are in the main flat and easily accessible. Staff were friendly and helpful and booking procedures were simple and effective. A wonderful trip - we will be visiting again. (March 2022 - Primary School)

Lovely visit and the children learnt lots and enjoyed their day and experience seeing the animals. It's a shame they're not doing their workshops yet but the animals talks were from the same person and the children could ask lots of questions. (December 2019 - Primary School)

Some of the enclosures seemed run down or empty. For the first hour, some animals were impossible to see because of condensation on the windows. There were many other schools there, but this was only an issue at lunchtime when there were no indoor spaces to eat. There were plenty of picnic benches, but it had been raining so this wasn't ideal. The impromptu talk in the lemur enclosure was great, and another class got to hear all about the moths, which we had been studying. All classes managed to see/hear the penguin talk too. Such an enjoyable visit as always! Everything was safe and clean for the children and clearly signposted so thart we could easily acess all areas effectively and not miss anything in the time we had. Only issue was that Reception had no maps hand-held maps available so we had to use i pad to photograph and use main map. (September 2019 - Primary School)

(July 2019 - Primary School)

Only 2 people on the till while there were 10 schools trying to sign in Part of the park was shut and the notice was very school There are no maps now and advised to take a photo, but we do not allow phones on trips Queues for toilets were shocking (July 2019 - Primary School)

Busy with lots of school groups. Good zoo to visit, all on the level. (July 2019 - Secondary School)

lovely day was had by all students and staff. Session we attended on evolution was fantastic and kids enjoyed being able to touch some animals (July 2019 - Secondary School)

The classroom experience fro Reception was a little disappointed as involved only a story and not a closer look at small animals, which you would expect. (June 2019)

(February 2019 - Primary School)

Excellent venue. We really enjoyed our visit! (February 2019 - Primary School)

The range of animals did not entirely meet our Africa topic needs. The workshop only showed the children two animals. (February 2019 - Primary School)

We would not go back to Twycross Zoo as we feel that the range of animals we needed to see linked to our topic were not there to see. The timings of the trip were fine and we were able to complete our workshop, have lunch and see all the animals without being rushed for time. We were also able to fit the trip with in the school day which made it convenient for parents/carers. The staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival and were very knowledgeable during the workshop. The workshops were able to provide children with knowledge to achieve the identified outcomes however it would have nice for the children to have encountered more animals during this. Lunch ran smoothly as were able to get to the indoor eating area when it was empty however we would have had to sit outside to eat had it been full. It was easy transition from the coach to the zoo and vice versa. (February 2019 - Primary School)

Very good educational services. Informative workshops for children linked to science habitat lessons taught at school. (February 2019 - Primary School)

(November 2018 - Secondary School)

(July 2018 - Primary School)

Would have liked a workshop but too expensive along with entrance fee and coach for 90 children. Having said that the zoo staff were really helpful at the booking stage, on the day and even after when we were 2 goody bags down and they are delivering them tomorrow. Emails/phone calls were prompt and courteous and even allowed me to take my children in for the pre-visit. Very impressed. (July 2018 - Primary School)

A very enjoyable experience. Chn learnt a lot during the trip and enjoyed exploring the site. Chn especially learnt a lot during the animal talks. It was very well organised and well resourced. (July 2018 - Primary School)

(July 2018 - Primary School)

(July 2018 - Primary School)

A good venue for a trip, you can get out of the sun, it was very hot when we went, but if you have been for a pre-visit you know to walk around the edge. (July 2018 - Primary School)

(July 2018 - Primary School)

(June 2018 - Secondary School)

Lots of schools attending made it very busy at times (June 2018 - Primary School)

Great for any person/child with physical disabilities as all on the flat. Down side, needs an adult size changing bed with hoist provision this would make it 5 star. (June 2018 - Secondary School)

Twycross Zoo is an excellent place to visit especially for children who are wheelchair users as every where is flat. Down side, although they have disable toilets they need to have a mobile hoist and adult changing bed for those who need complete support in their personal care. (June 2018 - Secondary School)

(June 2018 - Primary School)

(June 2018 - Primary School)

Twycross Zoo covers a large area, it is challenging for young children to walk such distances. I was very grateful that I was given opportunity to visit Twycross Zoo twice before visiting with the pupils. This allowed me to work out a route. Without this it would have been difficult, with just a map. An intermittent zoo guide would have been very helpful. When visiting the Red-Bellied Lemur there was a member of staff who approached us and gave a short talk. This was interesting and allowed us to learn a little bit more about the animals. The covered lunch area was too busy, fortunately the weather was good so we were able to eat outside. The covered school building, near the giraffe enclosure was fantastic for our snack. Overall a very positive experience, just a few staff around would have made the experience brilliant. (June 2018 - Primary School)

Well organised and friendly staff. An easy and informative visit. (June 2018 - Primary School)

(June 2018 - Primary School)

Great time looking around the zoo and children all enjoyed looking at the variety of different animals. Just felt classroom based study centre lacked hands on learning. (June 2018 - Primary School)

(June 2018 - Primary School)

July 2019 - Primary School
Only 2 people on the till while there were 10 schools trying to sign in Part of the park was shut and the notice was very school There are no maps now and advised to take a photo, but we do not allow phones on trips Queues for toilets were shocking

July 2019 - Secondary School
Busy with lots of school groups. Good zoo to visit, all on the level.

July 2019 - Secondary School
lovely day was had by all students and staff. Session we attended on evolution was fantastic and kids enjoyed being able to touch some animals

June 2019
The classroom experience fro Reception was a little disappointed as involved only a story and not a closer look at small animals, which you would expect.

June 2019 - Primary School
This was a really good trip. The children enjoyed seeing some of the animals they have been learning about in class up close.

No incidents. Children enjoyed the trip. Workshop very useful.

June 2019 - Primary School
It was very educational. There was a lack of indoor spaces to keep childrens' lunch whilst exploring the zoo. There were also a lack of indoor spaces for children to eat their lunch in poor weather.

Excellent venue! Extremely supportive and understanding when we were sadly let down, at the last minute, by our coach provider. We've already booked for 2019!

February 2019 - Primary School
Excellent venue. We really enjoyed our visit!

February 2019 - Primary School
The range of animals did not entirely meet our Africa topic needs. The workshop only showed the children two animals.

February 2019 - Primary School

February 2019 - Primary School
Very good educational services. Informative workshops for children linked to science habitat lessons taught at school.

Very hot - took extra water bottles so keep an eye on the weather. Coaches pick up was really tricky so make sure to go to the exit in enough time to have our coach arrive.

We had a really good day at Twycross Zoo and the educational sessions covered everything we needed in a really clear way, which gave us a really good grounding for the rest of the science learning we did back in school afterwards.

July 2018 - Primary School
A very enjoyable experience. Chn learnt a lot during the trip and enjoyed exploring the site. Chn especially learnt a lot during the animal talks. It was very well organised and well resourced.

A good venue for a trip, you can get out of the sun, it was very hot when we went, but if you have been for a pre-visit you know to walk around the edge.

June 2018 - Primary School
Lots of schools attending made it very busy at times

June 2018 - Secondary School
Great for any person/child with physical disabilities as all on the flat. Down side, needs an adult size changing bed with hoist provision this would make it 5 star.

June 2018 - Secondary School
Twycross Zoo is an excellent place to visit especially for children who are wheelchair users as every where is flat. Down side, although they have disable toilets they need to have a mobile hoist and adult changing bed for those who need complete support in their personal care.

June 2018 - Primary School

June 2018 - Primary School
Well organised and friendly staff. An easy and informative visit.
