Kingswood Peak Venture

Inspiring learning through outdoor education and adventure

Description

A trip to Kingswood is a life changing adventure. For over 35 years, our transformative school trips have encouraged primary and secondary school pupils to build confidence and resilience by taking on fun challenges.

Peak Venture residential activity centre is situated on the doorstep of the beautiful Peak District, near Sheffield, South Yorkshire, with dramatic gritstone edges, wild heather moorlands and gentle limestone dales.

Peak Venture's activity park is just a short walk from the main accommodation and dining areas. Nestled in sheltered woodlands and fields the activity park features a wealth of activities from high ropes, climbing and low ropes to aeroball and abseiling, with the 3G swing bringing an element of high adventure to the centre.

Fully supervised water-based activities take place on the adjacent Scout Dike Reservoir, including raft building and canoeing. All sessions take place under the regulations of the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) and all buoyancy aids and waterproof jackets are provided.

Facilities
•Outdoor: Exhilarating adventure park with apparatus including a zipwire, 3G swing and leap of faith, plus specially designed bushcraft sessions and nature walks
•Indoor: Flexible indoor space for all weather activities including fencing and indoor initiatives
•Watersports: Located adjacent to our watersports area, situated on the Scout Dike Reservoir, offering exciting activities including canoeing and raft building. Other facilities: Diner, shop, social hubs, party leader lounges, indoor classroom spaces

Accommodation
Peak Venture has standard dormitory style accommodation. Rooms range from 4 to 12 bed dormitories, with gender-separated bathroom and shower facilities and party leader rooms close by. Sheets, duvets and pillows are provided for all guests.

Excellent centre. Wet weather when we attended, staff were very proactive and on the ball at stopping activities until they had the all clear on whether it was safe to proceed when a stormy spell looked like lightening may occur. (March 2022 - Primary School)

Some activities seemed to be aimed at primary age groups rather than secondary (July 2018 - Secondary School)

Kingswood Peak Venture has a very well organised set of activities. It was just a shame that accommodation wasn't organised and we found some soiled bed sheets. Also, when we arrived our bags were thrown all over the car park by another group- they weren't locked away. (which is a simple fix- the baggage holding area just needs a door and a key) The Sunday night meal was also dreadful! (July 2018 - Primary School)
