All the staff were friendly, supportive and professional around the children, they briefed the children on site safety, expectations and covid-19 procedures, and challenged them to take part in an encouraging manner.
There were one way systems in place for covid-19, lots of hand sanitiser stations around the site and tables were cleaned between each school in the dinner hall.
A fire drill was carried out in order for the children to know what to do in case of an actual alarm and all safety expectations for activities were outlined in a child friendly manner.
The dormitory doors to outside were able to be alarmed at night and children knew location of staff at night if necessary.
Supporting visit staff and centre staff were aware of any medical/pastoral needs and a useful introductory briefing given to all visiting staff by lead instructor. | 27 March 2022 |

Initial walk worked well in settling children in to the residential, alerting them of their surroundings and sparking initial curiosity towards the trip.

YHA Hartington | | An excellent facility. The only point stopping them getting a 5th star is that we'd given them meal times at their request and we still ended up eating breakfast at the same time as the other guests which wasn't ideal for the other guests or school as there weren't enough seats. A wonderful stay all round and the staff were brilliant. | 24 March 2022 |

Magna Science Centre | | There were issues with the event regarding health and safety unfortunately.
The main picnic area was the only place upstairs, which led straight on to the open area containing the furnis etc. The area was not manned initially, and a student had broken the door leading on to this area. Loads of students heard about this and got into the area (which could have been potentially very dangerous).
I feel a more suitable area for picnics could be planned.
Also, when I asked the member of staff on arrival where I could tell my students where I would be if they needed me - they told me to tell them a name of a café that was not then seen anywhere! This caused great confusion. Could I suggest that this information could be sent out prior to the date (as all other communication has been fantastic) so I could inform my students on the coach before entering the venue.
A map emailed beforehand would also be helpful. Staff could then photocopy for their students.
The ladies I spoke to in orange tops were helpful and shut down the dangerous picnic room.
Thanks. | 24 March 2022 |

Adaptable Travel | | Adaptable Travel supported our itinerary suggestions and worked well to ensure this was actioned and planned. However, regarding Covid details, such as testing, support about booking testing centres and keeping us up to date - we had to chase this up with the company rather than them being forward in communicating with us, which was rather stressful as the guidance kept changing. They did provide excellent assistance at the airport as we were delayed for several hours and worked to amend out visit to best fir these unforeseen changes. | 24 March 2022 |
