Description
Mount Cook is a not-for-profit organisation based in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. We are dedicated to providing exciting outdoor activities and learning experiences for children and young people.
We know that the best outcomes in outdoor learning are achieved when the activities we offer relate to your desired outcomes and classroom teaching, whilst encouraging positive personal and social development. Our wide range of exciting outdoor activities, from high ropes and archery, to bush craft and water sports, are designed to develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience, boost attainment and promote intellectual curiosity.
Our purpose-built Centre offers modern, en-suite accommodation for 140 guests, with accommodation for a further 40 guests offered in our unique, wooden Glamping Pods. Full catering is provided in our impressive glass-fronted Main Dining Hall, serving delicious home-cooked food to keep energy levels up throughout your stay!

The centre is set in beautiful surroundings, next to the National Stone Centre and near to Black Rocks, so there are plenty of interesting places to visit in the vicinity. The adventurous outdoor activities were fun but challenging and the children enjoyed them all. The accommodation was good and the food was really nice. (June 2022 - Primary School)

The centre is well set up for the activities and groups. The instructors were very good with all the children encouraging and challenging. The accommodation and food were well catered for and the children had a brilliant time. (May 2022 - Primary School)

Fantastic and understanding admin team who made the arranging of the trip easier and smoother. Activities were well delivered and worked towards the identified outcomes nicely. Professional members of staff who had the care of our children at the forefront of their work. Team building activities were okay and of a mixed variety. Some worked better than others however. Initial walk worked well in settling children in to the residential, alerting them of their surroundings and sparking initial curiosity towards the trip.

Excellent facilities - comfortable bed, en-suite rooms, all meals provided, tea and coffee for staff all day.
As the students were kept busy all day, by the evening they were ready for bed and woke up fresh for the full day of activities.
Knowledgeable instructors who made the activities fun and educational.
Being centre based everything, was readily available.
I will suggest for next time that we do a night walk.

Small and lacking in seating/cover for most of the outdoor team tasks, but the fact that only one other school attended and the superb attentiveness of the manager and most leaders resulted in a superb visit which achieved our goals. (May 2019 - Primary School)
