We did not have a good experience with the Leaders this year as they were inexperienced and did not seem able to cater for the 160 girls we took. (March 2023 - Secondary School)

Food and accommodation great. Fabulous location. Staff always friendly and helpful. Facilities for staff available whilst leaders take children away for evening activities. (November 2022 - Primary School)

As it was the end of the season, a lot of the staff seemed less enthusiastic to motivate the children. We also had a lot of unplanned free time - 90 mins - between meals and activities with no designated areas or planned activities. The site isn't suitable for the children to run around as there's a lot of exposed tree roots which are tripping hazards and it's on a slope. We had a few minor injuries (scrapes and bruises) and run-ins with other schools during this time. (October 2022 - Primary School)
As it was nearing the end of the season, the enthusiasm of the staff was lacking. We also had a lot of downtime this year - 90 mins after meals - which were unplanned and the site isn't suitable to allow children just to run around as it's on a slope. Designated activities and areas for each school would be useful in this time. We had a few falls, injuries and run ins with other schools during this time. (October 2022 - Primary School)

Great for outdoor, teambuilding style activities. (September 2022 - Primary School)
It was a disappointing trip. PGL has decided to change their menu and therefore their was no hot food for breakfast and a few of the lunchtimes. I felt our children were hungry as the activities were very physical and therefore, a proper hot food menu should have ben supplied as stated at the time of booking. There was also a lack of qualified instructors at the time which meant that our programme of activities were limited. We had chosen the location for the water sport activities and were only offered kayaking (with some children missed out on dur to a windy day!). The activities were very similar - lots of team building / running around the site. The Group Leader also lacked direction and we found that our own staff were far more engaging and forward thinking with our children than he was. (September 2022 - Primary School)
PGL have a vast range of activities for schools to participate in. However, you may not always get your first choice. We were given dragon boat racing, vertical challenge and sensory trail originally, although we only chose vertical challenge from these three - our other two weren't granted. I requested to change the sensory trail and I was given three options (archery, ball games or beach walk) so I chose archery as it allows pupils to use multiple skills and is fun and competitive. Each activity is roughly 1 and a half hours which is a good amount of time to ensure everyone gets lots of turns but without getting bored. (July 2022 - Primary School)

Most activity leaders were brilliant. One was not (possibly hungover). PGL management onsite informed.
Safeguarding was supported at all points and all children had a brilliant time overall.
Not all the activities for open (covid, and not all staff trained on all activities) so not everything we wanted was available. (March 2022)

PGL could not do enough. Every problem that we encountered, they were on hand to help sort and were always available. A great venue and one which we will return to and visit in the future. (November 2019 - Primary School)
Great activities, some fantastic leaders. Parts of the accommodation could do with updating. (November 2019 - Primary School)
Most activities well led and managed. Accommodation is getting a bit tired (showering facilities, etc). Food was good. (November 2019 - Primary School)

Disappointed in food this year and less enthusiastic staff at the end of the season but otherwise a good stay. Good accommodation and good range of activities. (October 2019 - Primary School)
The staff and activities were brilliant, but there were a few issues on site this year. The maintenance of the cabins was not great, we had lots of blocked pipes for showers and toilets. We also got the impression they were short staffed as we have always had two leaders for our group and this year we only had one (who had never led a group before). We were given a very early breakfast slot which they were not able to change and they timetabled a very messy activity right before we were due to leave, causing disruption with suitcases and changes of clothes. Excellent Trip - enjoyed by all and very successful. (June 2019 - Primary School)
The group enjoyed the activities and staff were sensitive to the needs of the group, who all have SEN. They were able to modify their language to give simple instructions to the group, and to modify the activity if need be, and were sensitive and appreciative that not all of our children would be persuaded to take part in an activity. Most of the visit was very well organised and delivered. However, some issues with the hot water meant that not all pupils or staff were able to shower daily. Also, there was some variation in the quality and calibre of activity leaders. (March 2018 - Primary School)
