The Field Studies Council is a charity that aims to bring environmental understanding to all. We believe the more we know about and take inspiration from the world around us the more we can appreciate its needs and protect its diversity and beauty for future generations.
One of the many ways we do this is by providing well-designed, expertly delivered educational experiences for school groups, set in some of the UK's most stunning locations. Each year over 3,000 school groups, from key stage 1 to university level, visit our centres for geography or science (biology) fieldwork and cross-curricular environmental activity courses.

We studied mainly science topics and aspects of geography. However, we also did an art task and a speaking & listening activity, which we followed up with a writing task when we got back to school. (May 2023 - Primary School)

This was a great venue, super facilities, clean bedrooms, all teachers had en suites, as did the girls rooms, the food was plentiful and tasty. The grounds were wonderful and we will definitely be booking again for next year

An excellent centre for Field work. The tutors were knowledgeable, the work students were given was the right breadth and depth. The newly refurbished rooms with en suite bathrooms were great and they were able to accommodate the varying dietary requirements of the group. They also had very clear Covid guidelines to help the safety of their staff and our group. (July 2021 - Secondary School)
The trip was a success. All students apart from one were able to attend and complete his/her fieldwork for the purpose of completing their Non Examined Assessment which is equivalent to 20% of the total marks for the A Level Geography qualification. (July 2021 - Secondary School)

Good, but costly. Only real benefits (instead of leading it ourselves); the equipment, the kit (waterproof clothing/wellies and access to Crossways Farm (governed by Juniper Hall).
