At the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park, you can get as close to nature as possible. As educators, we want to encourage a curiosity about wildlife, a respect and awe of nature, and the desire to contribute to our planet as a whole. YWP is the only place in England to see polar bears roaming in one of the biggest polar bear reserves in the world!
YWP offers the perfect learning environment for students of all ages. The award winning Education sessions at the park are sure to enhance your students knowledge and appreciation of wildlife. Education sessions are available to pre-book in the purpose built Discovery Forest Classrooms and are available for all levels and abilities with a choice of different topics. Expedition walking tours are also available if you would prefer to keep your learning outside the classroom.
You can also bring the excitement of Yorkshire Wildlife Park into your classroom through Skype.Virtual sessions are available to book for both pre & post visits or as stand alone sessions. Ideal to use as an introduction to new topics and a great way to engage your students.. The education team will call your class live from the park to answer all of their questions. An outreach programme is also available.
School groups can explore the park as they wish, attend feeding times and ranger talks giving students a fantastic opportunity to talk to our experienced and qualified staff.

A very large wildlife park, with a lot of walking required. YWP offers an opportunity to observe an array of animals from countries all around the world. We had a really nice day there. We have deducted a point because lots of the eating places were closed which made it a bit annoying. When we booked, we were unable to have a talk because they were all fully booked however when we were at the park, the educational team called us to say that they had a cancellation so they were then able to fit us in which was lovely.

We (Year 6) visited the Wildlife adventure park as part of our Science/Geography theme to learn about animal clasification and how living things are affected by environmental impact. We did the classification workshop, which was great handling a snake, hissing coackroach and a giant snail. The children loved this trip, especially the polar bears, giraffes and meerkats. The children had a fabulous day out and had the chance to learn about all the amazing animals at the park. They were able to see some of the world's most endangered animals such as Amur Leopards and Tigers. The park was fantastic. It was very easy to get around and see each animal enclosure. There were also plenty of toilets, seating areas for lunch and very friendly and helpful staff.

The Wildlife Park is absolutely fantastic. On this particularly occasion however, I felt too many school visits were permitted onsite and this meant toileting the children and maintaining a social distance was a little tricky sometimes. (July 2021 - Primary School)
