Education workshop was absolutely amazing - very 'hands on' from the tutor with data loggers, comparing around us to the environment of the Palm House where lots of plants from Rainforests were grown. Lovely gardeners all around who were happy to chat to the children about the plants they were looking after, pointing out amazing facts about them etc. Convenient drop off zone for coaches, along with a dedicated schools lunch space. Shame that no prior notification was given the the lift to the tree top walkway was not in use. This disadvantaged a student who is only able to be mobile with the use of an automatic wheelchair. The education team were contacted by the school prior to the visit to check accessibility. No knowledge of the broken lift was given, yet on the ground the staff on Kew Gardens site informed us that the lift hap been broken for months. This was something that disappointed the child and the SEN teacher. However, Kew Gardens staff on the site did give the student an age appropriate book from the gift shop. However, the Education team at Kew did not apologise they just referred us to their small print. This was a shame, hence three stars this time.We will continue to use the venue for future trips as it is highly appropriate to our curriculum. (January 2020 - Secondary School)

Absolutely great. Self led tours by staff. Staff were accommodating with the exhibition that was only 5 in at a time as they let in 6. Students were interested in the gardens and sculpture and explored the surroundings thoroughly with their cameras. (October 2019 - Secondary School)

A great location for a school trip. Can accommodate large numbers. met at gate by employees who take all your details to speed up the registration (October 2019 - Secondary School)

Tate Britain, not Kew Gardens! It is a great venue because reasonably quiet, particularly in the morning. (September 2019 - Primary School)

Kew Gardens did not have a water fountain and so students had to buy water! (September 2019)

(July 2019 - Primary School)

Fantastic day had by all. Students were surrounded with resources and produced a range of successful drawings from the day. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Due to the excellent exhibition of glass sculptures, it was a suitable Art trip for year 9s who have been studying sculpture. It is hoped that they might take inspiration from this outing to use in future GCSE work. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Fantastic venue, much enjoyed by all the students. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Amazing hands on learning about bee pollination, one of the best school trips we have been on for the level of interest and learning for the children. (June 2019 - Primary School)

Excellent day out for schools (June 2019 - Primary School)

We love visiting Kew Gardens and its a great location for purpose of microclimates. This year we had a mix up with the Kew staff regarding level of supervision-- this is something that has not come up in the past. We organise our pupils and give them a bit of space to explore, whilst taking regular registers, providing them with maps and out of bounds areas and allowing them to complete fieldwork within that time. Its put a damper on the visit that the Kew constabulary requires us to hand hold our students (this was the case with the KS1 pupils at Kew) so its made the visit a bit less special. I explained that we had been visiting Kew for years and this had never come up and even the first day of the trip it was no issue with Kew staff. We were applauded for how well behaved our pupils were in fact. Seems like its different staff members interpretation and we will need to reconsider our plan for the day in future visits. There were no incidences or poor behaviour to report. (June 2019 - Secondary School)

Great workshop, the children were engaged and learnt a lot about the rainforest. (May 2019 - Primary School)

Kew Gardens was a fantastic place to visit - lots to see and look at in relation to our plants/flowers/trees topic! We also did a workshop that the children really enjoyed. The member of staff leading it was very enthusiastic and excellent with the children. One thing that we did consider was that the workshop only covered the curriculum - so we had already taught it in school, whereas we expected it to be 'Amazing Plants' where we might've seen some more unusual things. (April 2019 - Primary School)

It was great, all of the girls really enjoyed learning and experiencing different climates and plant life. (March 2019 - Primary School)

Due to the excellent exhibition of glass sculptures, it was a suitable Art trip for year 9s who have been studying sculpture. It is hoped that they might take inspiration from this outing to use in future GCSE work.

Linked to habitats and biomes. Science and Humanities. The workshop was well pitched and reinforced classwork. Travel time is the only drawback.

June 2019 - Secondary School

Great workshop, the children were engaged and learnt a lot about the rainforest.

April 2019 - Primary School
Kew Gardens was a fantastic place to visit - lots to see and look at in relation to our plants/flowers/trees topic! We also did a workshop that the children really enjoyed. The member of staff leading it was very enthusiastic and excellent with the children. One thing that we did consider was that the workshop only covered the curriculum - so we had already taught it in school, whereas we expected it to be 'Amazing Plants' where we might've seen some more unusual things.

March 2019 - Primary School
It was great, all of the girls really enjoyed learning and experiencing different climates and plant life.
