Rayburn Tours Ltd | | There were several bits in the itinerary that had to be dynamically risk assessed on the spot due to the organisation from Rayburn.
I had asked for a German speaker as a tour guide and was told that I didn't need one. All areas and venues that we went needed this which made it difficult.
Dietary requirements - Rayburn were sent all our requirements three months prior. I commented on the lack of vegan choices and the seemingly confusion of it while we were over there - Rayburn responded with "the concept of veganism hasn't reached rural Germany yet". Luckily there were no issues but that was more to do with the vigilance of our staff rather than the organisation.
The first concert was in a completely inappropriate venue - a tiny quiet little town with a few posters up. There were two in the first audience (luckily the rest were fine because I had asked for touristy and busier areas). I did not feel that Rayburn had chosen a suitable venue and had advertised like they said they would. The venue had a stage that was too small - I had queried this and was told that we would all fit on the stage. We didn't and half of the orchestra had to be on the ground. Luckily the students saw the funny side and carried on, determined to had flyers out to locals. | 30 July 2024 |

The Bushcraft Company - Boughton Woods | | The Bushcraft staff were amazing and the students had great fun. The toilet per student ratio was low, and the toilets and shower need upgrading. Conditions were not great. Food was ok, but it would be helpful if a bit of salt and pepper were added to the food or be made available for those who need it. Based on my observation and the observation of my team, the Bushcraft staff seem to lack safeguarding training similar to what teachers receive. I thing that this would be useful for the Bushcraft staff, seeing that they regularly interact with students. Overall, the trip was good. | 22 July 2024 |

Wildwood Kent | | The venue was in an appropriate setting for children to access and not too big so they could get round all of it in the half day we were there. It could have had more access to toilets around the park. Children were engaged as most of the animals could be seen. I liked it, that the exit didn't mean we had to go through the gift shop, as this can cause a lot of behaviours for children wanting something they might not be able to have. | 22 July 2024 |
