| Halsbury Travel Ltd | We had problems dealing with Halsbury travel and are considering whether to use them in the future. The hotel was excellent. The first restaurant was good and the others were adequate, although none dealt with the dietary/allergy requirements well (it is unclear whether this is the fault of the restaurants or Halsbury). The coach driver was friendly and having a coach was a real asset when the students were tired, a very good idea. The coach driver did drive with inattention on at least one occasion the motorway and this led to a potentially dangerous situation (to note for next time). | NST Travel Group | Krakow is a lovely clean city that is walkable. A phone with google maps is advantageous as NST's guide left me to guide the group on day 2 and 3. NST was variable as the tickets for the salt mine were incorrect. However, the bus to pick us up from Upton Hall on the Wirral was 2 hours late and we just made our flight. | SkiBound | SkiBound are the preferred supplier to GDST for school ski trips so this was not a personal discretionary decision to use them. They are a competent and well run organisation. Pre-planning of trip via their head office was good with regular communication however there was a late notification of lesson times (1 week to go) and this did impact on the timings of theday on the slopes as we were informed lessons would start as lates 11am - with no choice to modify this. The delivery in resort is very much dependent on the local ski representative provided by SkiBound. We found the local rep to be competent but distant from the group. He also missed some logistical details (ski locker location in lift station) as the resort was unfamiliar to him. Overall experience of Skibound is good- but they could have made more effort to deliver evening programme- this was mainly driven by me as Ski Leader. | 17 April 2023 | |
