Description
YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale is a groups’ only hostel situated within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site and a short walk from Ironbridge, a small town famous for being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and where Abraham Darby perfected the art of mass production of iron.
This Grade II listed building was established in 1853 by the Coalbrookdale Company as a literary and scientific institute and later a school of art. Offering 74 beds across 19 rooms, the majority of which are en-suite, great groups catering, a large dining room, a spacious lounge and an outdoor study area, this hostel is perfectly set up for groups.
We offer the flexibility for Primary school groups to choose to lead their own activities, sign up for our YHA delivered education packages or mix and match by adding some YHA activities as a bolt on to a self-led stay.
Social groups will also have plenty to do during a stay at YHA Ironbridge Coalbrookdale with a number of options to hike and bike around this delightful part of Shropshire. There’s plenty to do on the water as well with cruises, canoe, kayaking and even white water rafting available for trips and tours on the River Severn, just watch out for the Jackfield rapids! Finally the town of Ironbridge itself is a tourist attraction with its eponymous bridge, quirky independent shops and trendy bars, cafes and restaurants.
