Facilities have been updated in the last year and there are a wide range of activities to choose from. We mostly got our first choices for activities and the accommodation was perfect. On the first day some staff were needed prompting to engage with pupils from the outset by their superiors. (May 2019 - Primary - Post No: 12358 )

This was our first time at PGL Caythorpe and we would visit again. Positives: Group being housed in one block with no other school groups in that building. Rooms were small (4-8 beds) and clean and comfy. Food was good, lots of choice and staff were very accommodating towards dietary requirements / fussy eaters. Activities were varied and they changed the program on request to include our top choices. Negatives: Bit disorganised on arrival, especially given the torrential rain which we didn't want children to be out in for a prolonged period of time. I had to chase some organisational elements myself such as lunchtime on departure day, a changing room after a wet activity and a place to eat lunch on arrival day etc which I feel should have been sorted by PGL staff before our arrival. Some activity leaders were a bit 'flat' and didn't enthuse the children as much as others. Sessions were quite long (hour and a half), leading to quite a bit of waiting depending on the activity. Lack of toilets for use between sessions! Our 'groupie' (group leader) was not very reliable or well-organised and had to be spoken to about hugging / touching the children (though he did stop after he had been spoken to) Lack of drying room in accommodation. No fire drill on arrival. No helmets for some activities (trapeze, low ropes, sensory trail) where bumped heads was a real possibility. (May 2019 - Primary - Post No: 12040 )

As always the activities provided at PGL are enjoyed by the children. However, the teachers reported that the cleanliness wasn't as good in previous years with certain rooms and areas smelling of sewerage. Whilst on the trip may of our children fell ill with sickness. They returned back to school earlier than normal and continued to be sick over the weekend with more children also falling ill. Four members of staff were also ill when they returned. Well trained staff, but standard of facilities are on the decline. Site was a absolute mess and mains water was lost for over a day. (April 2018 - Primary - Post No: 2807 )

It had the potential to be a 5 star review but the mud from the construction work and vehicles was a bit overwhelming, the wheelchairs were incredibly hard to move even on the surfaced road areas. Other than than the pupils had a great time and the staff we met were wholehearted in their efforts to include every child and give them a fabulous learning experience. A superb experience for Teachers taking their younger pupils away for the first time. PGL staff will do all that they can to support your week and to make the time easier for the Teachers. They provided clean bedding for a pupil who had had a nose bleed in the night; they asked how much money (and if) the pupils were allowed to buy sweets/fizzy pop in the shop; they provided a first aider to give advice when a pupil had an injury and they were willing to cook individually for any pupils with specific dietary needs. You couldn't ask for more! Love PGL. (April 2018 - Primary - Post No: 2242 )
