YHA Patterdale | | The venue is in a stunning location which offered us an amazing opportunity to complete Silver Qualifying with a yr 10 group.
Although the routes were restrictive at this level and definitely as much based on appropriate weather all groups were able to see new scenery over new terrain each day, even with using the venue as the only campsite.
The facilities at the Campsite were basic but perfect for DofE and the accommodation for staff was a luxury from normal expeditions. Feedback from pupils:-
Strengths
Self contained, great location, sole use, indoor facilities a huge bonus, drying room, stunning venues as soon as you get out of the tent.
Areas for Improvement:
Campsite to hilly with little flat area, difficult to peg tents due to rocks, no outdoor washing area, little hot water.
All pupils enjoyed the experience and were proud of their achievements.
As staff we all agreed that the Peak District would be a better location for Silver DofE with the location of our School. However as a centre we have already started to look at using Patterdale for our established Gold DofE Programme, so will be looking to come back next year. | 24 June 2024 |

Field Studies Council - Amersham | | It was educational, lots of walking. If you have children who run, it is not suitable as there are no fenced off areas on some of the site. Our teacher visited in advance and was shown and told different things to the actual trip, AFC staff were aware that we had runners in the group yet still asked us to walk across unfenced roads and into unfenced areas of woodland. | 21 June 2024 |
Ancient House Museum of Thetford Life | | Brilliantly organised with engaging activities. Due to limited space and toilets, I would suggest this venue is not big enough to cater for 85 children on a whole day visit. The children struggled to eat their lunch in such a small space and were unable to have a movement break anywhere. | 21 June 2024 |
