Yorkshire Dales Guides can provide caving at all levels, climbing, abseiling, ghyll scrambling, gorge walking, team building, guided walks, orienteering and mountain biking. For those looking at day trips, these can be provided as single, half-day sessions or full days perhaps incorporating 2-3 different activities. For those looking at a residential, we can build a programme to suit, incorporating several activities.
Yes we do! Reference is R2476. Current expiry July 2029.
Yes! We're lucky to share our site with a 50-bed comfortable and fully equipped bunkbarn. Our private and quiet site near Settle also includes several large fields and facilities (toilets/showers) for basic camping, so there are a range of residential options to suit your budget, from camping and providing your own catering, to staying in the bunkbarn and getting external catering, for which we can provide details. We'll then build a programme of on and off-site activities to suit your needs.
Typically around 7 to 8 years, but younger may be possible depending on group size and desired activities. Please do get in touch to discuss your needs.
Our normal ratios are in the region of 1:8 to 1:10 depending on the activity chosen and needs of the group. We have enough equipment to have, as an example, around 30 children caving and 30 children climbing/abseiling at any one time.
We LOVE caving here at Yorkshire Dales Guides! Its a fantastic activity, and the Yorkshire Dales is the best region to try it in the UK! Our longest cave system is over 90km long!! There's so much to see from stunning clean-washed streamways and waterfalls, to chambers adorned with formations and 350millon year old fossils, fun climbs and crawls. We have some excellent venues only 15-20mins up the road, and there's no need to worry about tight spaces as we can tailor the session to suit, so if you just want to stay in the big, accessible walking sized passages thats absolutely fine! All equipment is provided, so all you need are some warm layers and thick socks for your wellies, plus a change of clothes! Give it a try!! :-)
No, sadly we dont provide transport, so you'll need your own to transport the group. Or we can organise a friendly, local coach/minibus company to transport your group if required.
Absolutely! A very popular option for a group of, say, 60 is a 2-night residential. After settling in on the day of arrival, the group could enjoy an afternoon of on-site activities such as archery, orienteering and team building. On the next day, we'd split the group into four activity groups - caving, climbing/abseiling, walking, ghyll scrambling. The groups would then rotate through these half-day sessions on day 2 and 3, before departing. This is just an example, and we'd be very happy to build a programme to suit your needs.
