School Day Visits are extremely informative and “hands-on” and would usually include bottle feeding (calves and/or lambs – depending upon the time of year), a milking demonstration, rabbit/guinea pig handling and time in the hatchery to hold the day old chicks as well as the ever popular tractor ride around the animal paddocks outside.
However, visits can also include butter making, from farm to fork, fur, feather or wool and indeed harvest, to link in with farming seasons. As well as more specific topics such as Lincolnshire Day, which offers a variety of food and farming related activities prepared by our qualified Education Team.
Upon arrival at the Farm, each school will receive their own timetable of activities to avoid endless queuing, as well as a bag of animal feed to feed most of the animals with four legs.
This is a unique, truly memorable opportunity to watch new life emerge before your eyes…….with extra discounts available if booked within the same academic year as a school day or residential visit.
An experienced member of our Rand Farm Park Education Team will deliver the incubator with 7 – 10 fertile eggs into school to hatch within 21 days. We will also leave a day-by-day incubation calendar, a brooder to transfer the hatched chicks into as well as information on how to candle the eggs to check development of the embryo until the chicks emerge.
After a few days in school, during which time you will see several changes as the chicks develop, we would then arrange to collect everything from school (unless you wish to keep the chicks).
Rand Farm Park continues to offer residential visits for visitors of all ages and abilities with the opportunity to stay in the purpose-built dormitory, to participate in daily jobs on the farm, understand the life-style commitment of being a Farmer and learn more about where our food comes from; why do farmers continue to farm and the preservation and conservation of the world we live in.
Each programme is bespoke for a school depending upon duration, time of year of a visit and activities to be included but all are hands-on learning opportunities creating memories to last a lifetime. Packages include transport, all meals, accommodation, activities, use of the facilities (some exclusive), insurance and supervision by our Team throughout the day.

The learning opportunities are wide. There was so many new educational objectives which we were able to meet.

The children were kept busy from the moment they arrived to the time they left. They enjoyed looking at and feeding the animals as well as the tractor ride. We did not need an hour for lunch. Half an hour would have been sufficient.
