Derwentwater Youth Hostel is an exciting location for school groups of all ages.
Our elegant Georgian mansion provides bunk-bed accommodation for 88, and our delicious home-made meals provide healthy fuel for busy days on the lake and the hills.
We work with highly-esteemed local activity providers to offer a wide range of activities, many of which can take place in our grounds, or within a 30 minute drive of the hostel. Lead your own activities or ask us to arrange fieldwork, orienteering, watersports, hill walking, ghyll scrambling, climbing, abseiling, farm visits, mine tours, and forest activities.
With the beautiful lake Derwent Water at the bottom of the driveway, a waterfall cascading through the grounds, and high mountains encircling the valley, Derwentwater Youth Hostel is the perfect base for GCSE and A Level fieldtrips, teamwork, expedition training, and formative first residential experiences.
Our friendly staff have a wealth of local knowledge and experience, providing valuable advice and a flexible attitude.
