Bedgebury • Prep took quite a long time, including walking the 10km loop. • Go Ape prep was quite straight forward. Go Ape were really helpful at sending documents through and answering questions. • The day started at 8:30am with student briefing o Not all staff turned up which made it difficult as the staff didn’t know what the students had been briefed on. (they were asked to be at the briefing) • The ropes course was a huge success, great feedback. o Students liked the independence o Students like the set up of the size of the courses and that there were multiple courses. o Students like the relaxed nature of being able to go to the café after the activities. o Only 40 mins on the bus • We had one student on the walk with an auto injector – we had that group go last so the staff member at the first checkpoint could follow along behind in case there were any issues. • Students on the walk were excited to be doing it without a member of staff with them. Things to do differently • One more person as a check point on the walk. That would take it to 4 people on checkpoints. Or have that extra person be a floater for when groups get lost. • There was no signal either for a phone or walkie talkie at the lake and around most of the trails. • Walkie talkies worked well except for the range wasn’t great. Maybe need more walkie talkies so each member of staff on the walk team can have one to stay in contact with the groups better.
