The Gilbert White Field Studies Centre is the Education Department of Gilbert White’s House and Gardens in Selborne, Hampshire. Gilbert White, Frank Oates and Lawrence Oates were all explorers of the natural world, from Selborne to Central America, Africa to Antarctica. We aim to inspire the next generation to develop their own curiosity about the natural world; to explore it, understand it, enjoy it and look after it. Our workshops include both local natural history, making full use of our beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside, and world exploration using the fascinating historic collections of our museum with galleries on Antarctica, Africa and Central America. great activities but best suited to older year groups
We aim to differentiate activities according to the age and ability of the pupils, do let us know if you want us to make changes for your next visit.
