Many of the areas of the curriculum were covered. The science linked to our unit of work 'Rocks and soils' where the miners were very knowledgeable, finding out about the history of the mines and the workers was amazing and geography was covered by looking at the land and rock formations.

The sessions here both the underground tour and the workshop fit the purpose of learning for the year 3 coal mining topic. The Auntie Brenda workshop does hint more at KS1 on the booking form but was very fitting for the objectives and outcomes of the unit of work.
