The Nation’s year-round place to remember, a space where everyone can celebrate lives lived and remember lives lost.

A beautiful and inspiring place, the 150-acres of the Arboretum form a living landscape, a home for more than 400 memorials waiting to be discovered.

Tales of bravery shown in the most extraordinary of times, selfless service and sacrifice, camaraderie and care are represented by the memorials. From the Armed Forces and Emergency Services to civilian organisations that supported our Nation in times of need, people from all walks of life are represented by the memorials, with designs that are rich in symbolism reflecting those they remember.

The grounds of the Arboretum are expansive and there is lots for the whole family to discover. A programme of exhibitions and daily talks, along with

Land Train, buggy and walking tours, help bring their stories to life, whilst a programme of family activities including the Stick Man Trail and two children’s play areas make exploring fun for even the youngest visitors.

Dogs are also welcome into the Arboretum grounds during the day, on a short lead.

Can I bring a dog to the Arboretum?

The Arboretum are pleased to welcome well-behaved dogs and their owners during the daytime.

Please ensure your dog is kept on a short lead at all times, clear-up promptly after your dog using the dog waste bins provided and manage your dog respectfully throughout your visit, being considerate of other visitors and the Remembrance that the memorials represent.

Please note, dogs are not allowed in children’s play areas, on the Armed Forces Memorial, the land train or buggies and access to indoor spaces is limited.

Do I have to pay to park at the Arboretum?

Entry to the Arboretum is free, however they recommend booking your visit in advance to guarantee entry and save on the daily parking charge.

Cars: £8 on the door, or £5 if booked in advance

Motorcycle: £5 on the door, or £3 if booked in advance

Coaches and mini buses are permitted to park onsite at the Arboretum for free, however they do ask that groups of ten or more visitors book in advance by calling 01283 245 100.

Where can I eat at the Arboretum?

The Arboretum's restaurant serves a range of hot food, sandwiches, soups and cakes. The menu changes daily, depending on the fresh ingredients they source from local Staffordshire suppliers. There is also ice cream available from local Derbyshire artisan Bluebell Dairy. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available.

There is also a smaller Coffee Shop, which can be found in Heroes’ Square close to the Remembrance Centre. It serves takeaway snacks and barista crafted coffees using fresh beans from local roaster Chartley Coffee.

You are also welcome to bring picnics to enjoy out in the grounds, and the Arboretum has a number of outdoor picnic areas.

How do I get to the Arboretum?

The Arboretum is located just off the A38 / A513 between Lichfield and Burton upon Trent. If you are using a Sat Nav, please use postcode DE13 7AR.

Visitors can also get to the Arboretum using public transport, on a seven day bus service, which travels directly from Tamworth Rail station.

How accessible is the Arboretum?

The Remembrance Centre is flat with levelled access from the car park into the building and ramped access into the grounds.

The Arboretum grounds are largely flat and there are lots of hard standing paths to use as you’re exploring. As a maturing landscape with natural features it’s worth remembering that certain areas in the grounds may present challenges for those with special access requirements, many of their memorials for example are on grassed areas.

To help you get around, wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be hired for a small charge. The Arboretum also offers land train and buggy tours, both wheelchair accessible.

In 2023 the Arboretum opened a Changing Places toilet facility.

This is a great place for children to experience and to learn about remembrance. The staff are lovely too and cannot do enough to help so the children get the most out of the day.
