The Box Moor Trust

Set up over 400 years ago, The Box Moor Trust has a diverse range of habitats, including woodland, meadows, ponds, rivers, and agricultural and urban areas. We deliver a varied curriculum to schools and community groups, including science, geography, agriculture, art, literacy, maths, history and citizenship. We also offer seasonal and bushcraft courses and a Forest Schools programme. Family Activity days are held in the school holidays. Our emphasis is on direct, first-hand investigation and exploration using a variety of teaching methods and learning styles. All age groups can visit, all year round. Lists of our ready-made courses can be found on our website. We are able to tailor these as required. Our facilities include: our Old Barn classroom and outdoor shelter, a car park suitable for coaches by the new Box Moor Trust Centre, toilets (inc. disabled), pond dipping platforms, mini-beast hunting areas and a boardwalk through the woodland. Our facilities have good disabled access. All courses are taught by fully qualified staff with first aid training and DBS/CRB clearance. All equipment is provided. Health and safety and child protection are high priorities and all activities are risk assessed. We hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
