We are Field Studies Council, an environmental charity and leaders in outdoor education. We want to inspire your pupils with innovative teaching, and explore diverse learning environments together, to encourage them to care for our natural world.
The Field Studies Council's Amersham centre is located in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). FSC manages the centre and nature reserve on behalf of National Grid Transco. The 30 hectare site provides a mosaic of woodland, grassland and pond habitats for all ages to study.
Each year over 3,000 school groups, from key stage 1 to university level, visit our centres for geography or science (biology) fieldwork, cross-curricular environmental activity courses, plus outdoor adventure.
Let our education team help transform your classroom theory into real subject knowledge, and harness the adventure found in nature, through hands-on experiences. We live and breathe outdoor education, and want to share our passion with your pupils.

It was educational, lots of walking. If you have children who run, it is not suitable as there are no fenced off areas on some of the site. Our teacher visited in advance and was shown and told different things to the actual trip, AFC staff were aware that we had runners in the group yet still asked us to walk across unfenced roads and into unfenced areas of woodland.
