We are open from 10:00 – 6:00 every day except 24, 25 and 26 December. Educational events are bookable on weekdays term times only. However there are still shows and events on at weekend and holidays.
Free, our workshops shows and parking are all free provided they are booked in advance.

The venue is great for access by train to York. The train exhibits show how trains have developed through the ages. The model railway is fun too - the children liked looking at the surroundings and watching the trains go round. Having iconic, historic trains brought our learning about trains to life. The timings were just long enough - 1 hour to go round the main gallery and complete our object hunt. The staff were friendly and helpful including having reserving lunch benches in the main gallery for us.
