18th century watermill near Malton in North Yorkshire. Restored as an education centre in a National Landscape, generating renewable energy.
We provide free curriculum-linked workshops. including 'gears, levers and pulleys', 'rocks and soils' and 'habitats and minibeasts'. Most workshops are linked to the primary science curriculum. Visits usually include a tour of the building, an opportunity to cook delicious s'mores over a fire, as well as the main workshop.

All school visits are free of charge.
Howsham Mill also offers a transport subsidy in order bring more young people to Howsham Mill by removing financial barriers. All state-funded primary schools who are hiring a coach are eligible to apply for a £115 subsidy towards the cost of travel. Private schools are not eligible. Schools with their own transport are not eligible to apply. Schools with higher than average numbers of FSM pupils are eligible for a larger subsidy.
