Minehead EYE started out as an idea for a skatepark some 12 years ago , as the local skaters started to bring attention to the fact that there were no parks anywhere near the area . After a couple of years , others got involved and the idea for the EYE grew and grew until funding was applied for in 2006 from the BIG lottery fund. Capital was granted for a multi purpose indoor skatepark and youth centre which was finally built and opened in August 2010 after many years of volunteer time and effort by everyone involved. Since day one the centre has earned all it’s own revenue, income being generated from the skatepark and bouldering room and allowing the EYE to put all profits (!) back into the centre. We strive to create access for all, so if you know someone who may have a problem accessing the EYE , get them in touch with us and we’ll see what we can do.
We are now in our third year and things are moving along swimmingly. As well as the indoor park we have added a bouldering cave to our facilities, and our recording studio, cafe, various events and courses continue to thrive, as well as the EYE now running all the youth clubs in West Somerset . The EYE is firmly not-for-profit , supported by hundreds of hours of volunteer time and the hard work of it’s staff and many others who fly the flag. Schools and Groups
The EYE has years of experience running group sessions ,with qualified instructors who encourage and teach participants to push their limits whilst still having a great time.

Our groups sessions last for 2 hours ( Roughly 1 hours with instructor and 1 hour freestyle ) in either the bouldering cave or skatepark and cost £5 per person , which includes all equipment.
Day trips which include both sessions are available and cost £8 per person.
Please note Instructor sessions can only be booked for groups of 10 or more, although we’re happy to give everyone a few pointers at the beginning !
A typical school trip to the EYE can look like this :
10 am – 12pm Skatepark /Slackline session with short break
12 pm – 1pm Lunch Break – Pool , Table tennis and I. T available.
1pm – 3pm Boulder Cave session
‘We have used the Eye for a number of years as part of our Friday University program in which pupils choose from a range of sporting or arts activities suggested by staff members. At the Eye our pupils develop balance, coordination and the confidence to achieve some amazing things in a safe environment.’
