Mount Cook is a not-for-profit organisation based in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District. We are dedicated to providing exciting outdoor activities and learning experiences for children and young people. We offer day trips, history curriculum packages and residential outdoor experiences to ages 6 and above.

We know that the best outcomes in outdoor learning are achieved when the activities we offer relate to your desired outcomes and classroom teaching, whilst encouraging positive personal and social development.

Our wide range of exciting outdoor activities are designed to develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience, boost attainment and promote intellectual curiosity. Activities include high ropes, zip wire, rock climbing (on real rock!), archery, bushcraft, abseiling and much more.

Our purpose-built Centre offers modern, en-suite accommodation for 140 guests, with accommodation for a further 40 guests offered in our unique, wooden Glamping Pods. Full catering is provided in our impressive glass-fronted Main Dining Hall, serving delicious home-cooked food to keep energy levels up throughout your stay!

"Mount Cook is in a beautiful location, with great facilities. Seeing the children playing in the outdoors was priceless. The natural setting for abseiling and climbing was super, since these are commonly on man made structures at other providers." - Primary School Teacher, June 2024

"This trip was so fun! It inspired me to go outdoors more often. Thank you again, this will be something I will remember forever" - Year 6 child, November 2024

"We have had a huge number of thank you emails from parents saying how much of a brilliant time their child has had, much more than usual, which reflects how much our children enjoyed the trip as a whole” - Primary School Teacher, October 2024
