Christ Church Cathedral Education Department
Christ Church Cathedral has been a place of worship and welcome for over 1,300 years, since the first church was established on the site by Saint Frideswide, an Anglo-Saxon princess. The current building, while one of the country's smallest Cathedrals, is stunningly beautiful and a microcosm of English and local history. Children of all ages respond to and are inspired by its unique atmosphere.
School (and home-school) groups enjoy being able to explore hidden features of the Cathedral and site. Our visits are tailor-made to fulfill each group's specific learning objectives and supported by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, all of whom have been DBS checked. The visits almost always include guided tours, in small groups, and may include costumed role play; craft activities; Q and A interviews with clergy; and/or object handling.
School visits can support any area of the Primary or Secondary curriculum and , from October 2020, we intend to offer an outreach educational experience, the Pop Up Cathedral.
