Description
At Ufton, we provide history and outdoor learning school trips for schools across the South East.
Based in and around our Grade 1 Listed house and grounds, each visit is personally designed by our qualified teachers to meet your specific objectives. If you would prefer, we can also deliver all of our programmes in your school. Whichever option you choose, our emphasis is on hands on, creative and interactive learning.
On Ufton History school trips, children are immersed in the past. Whether exploring the Grade 1 Tudor Manor House, flogging Boudicca in the Celtic Roundhouse or curing a cursed field as a Saxon, all our activities use the unique resources at our disposal to inspire and engage your group.
Our 40 acre site in Berkshire includes ancient woodland, a Viking long ship, Celtic settlement, medieval ponds and Tudor Manor House complete with secret priest holes.
We have a wide range of curriculum linked programmes for your class at both KS1 and KS2. Each historical programme follows its own story line – perhaps your children will become part of the Saxon Readingas settlers or a Tudor Petty Constable investigating strange goings on at the allegedly Catholic Manor.
As well as the high-quality historical education we deliver, we want schools to make the most of the outdoor learning opportunities at Ufton. Woodland settings can develop numerous skills and attributes within children, from building confidence to environmental awareness and key skills. We harness exciting and engaging activities, which can be encompassed within a historical programme or formed into a stand-alone visit, to ultimately inspire a sense of awe and wonder for the natural world around them.

A really positive educational experience for all of our children. While simultaneously developing their independence and personal organisation skills, the children were immersed in a historical setting and learnt through experience about Viking life. They especially loved 'living' the battles between the Viking and Anglo-Saxons. Although the building itself is Tudor, having the chance to stay there provided the children with the chance to experience history in a way they never had before. (February 2020 - Primary School)
