Only comments: accommodation was not ready on arrival, as the made sure they were cleaned in line with COVID sanitation. Not all instructors were carrying a 1st aid kit with them, although available from reception. Also some of the rooms on the ground floor's windows opened and not restricted as to how far it can open. The staff were friendly and accommodating, they checked on any special requirements the children might need with each group before the activities. They were then adaptable to their various needs. Food was great and there was plenty of choice, when 'picky' eaters could not find anything they liked, the kitchen was again, very helpful. The bedding was clean and fresh, we did have a problem with mould in one of the rooms, which we were able to leave unoccupied by jiggling the numbers around. Activities were well explained and safety protocols were all in place. Some of the children were pretty exhausted by the end of such busy filled days. (September 2021 - Primary School)

We had an excellent time at Bawdsey Manor. The staff were well trained and had safety measures in place for all activities. Out pupils had a lot of fun and challenged themselves. (September 2021 - Primary School)

Very supportive staff who engaged well with our students (September 2021 - Secondary School)

We had a hugely successful trip. The instructors supported our children wonderfully and the food was tailored to our dietary requirements. The one issue we had was the ventilation in Fulmar. It was extremely hot and the children struggled to sleep due to the temperatures - especially in the smaller rooms with up to 6 beds. We were also informed that a room on our floor was for the use of another school. It was not required in the end, but we did see this as a safeguarding risk + covid risk also. (September 2021 - Primary School)

(September 2021 - Primary School & Secondary School)

(July 2021 - Primary School)

Bawdsey Manor is a lovely site which we have visited before. Some of the instructors were excellent and the staff were very helpful about accommodating our needs eg diabetic child who needed to have food accurately weighed and had to eat at certain times. Our group leader was good but there was only one of him! Whenever we have been before (every year for at least the last 6 years) we have had two group leaders with our group of 60ish year 6 children. One was not really enough especially as due to COVID, he had to do things which leaders haven't done in the past such as wipe down all the tables after meals. The other change we noticed was that the size of activity groups has increased from 12 to 15 children. For some activities, it was hard to get 15 children to all have a proper go and it meant more waiting around for everyone. I can only assume these changes have been brought in to cut costs but the result is a poorer experience for everyone. The leaders and instructors themselves thought the bigger groups generally had a negative impact on the quality of the experience for the children. Another issue worth a mention is that when I visited the site prior to the trip, I was told that the internet was good all over the site. This was not the case at all and this mattered a great deal to us since the diabetic child we took has a sensor which conveys data about blood glucose levels to his and other phones. In the accommodation block (Heron House) reception was very patchy and so we had to wake up the child through the night for finger prick tests instead of relying on the sensor. This meant sleepless nights for the child and staff responsible for him and was annoying since we had been told reception was good. (July 2021 - Primary School)

Their own COVID measures and those of our own differed a lot and not all of the precautions we wanted in place were followed. (July 2021 - Primary School)

Excellent PGL centre. All the usuals but staff were best I have ever experienced. Lots of mosquitoes and need more water based activities but otherwise the perfect centre. (June 2021 - Primary School)

All aspects of the provision were excellent: friendly and supportive staff, well-organised and interestingsessions, well-organised meal times and varied menus, clean and well-organised accommodation. (June 2021 - Primary School)

A fun-packed adventure for all the children involved. Whatever the child's ability it gives them a chance to experience an outdoor adventure and build on team work. (June 2021 - Primary School)

Excellent setting, well led and organised. (December 2019 - Primary School)

The visit was largely very siuccessful. The catering team assisted us very confidently with the wide range of medical needs and allergies that we had. The instructors were once again to a very high standard, well-trained and wanting to get the very most out of the children. The water activities have been enhanced since we came in June and were much better! (November 2019 - Primary School)

The visit was largely very successful. The arrangements for children who did not stay overnight went well and these ran smoothly. The accommodation on the top floor of the Manor was quieter because we were at the top of the house, but the rooms were hotter and the children were very spread out. Recommend that we request the middle floor in future years. (November 2019 - Primary School)

Helpful, encouraging and caring staff. Very well organised with good accommodation and a high standard of food provided. (November 2019 - Primary School)

Fantastic site for our outward bounds experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed it. (October 2019 - Primary School)

Fantastic venue and enthusiastic staff. (October 2019 - Primary School)

Good PGL experience but 4 stars rather than 5 due to accommodation in the manor house making it really hard to monitor children. (October 2019 - Primary School)

The pupils had an amazing time and came back more confident and with greater resilience. (October 2019 - Primary School)

Stunning setting and well-equipped site. Not all PGL activities available. 1 Year since opening - staff are enthusiastic and helpful. New safety equipment has been introduced on this site, e.g. for climbing wall, the impact of this was that children had more opportunities to climb than previously. Staff were aware of former feedback from our school and responded directly to it. (July 2019 - Primary School)

Fantastic activities and great staff. Another brilliant year! (July 2019 - Primary School)

(July 2019 - Primary School)

Could do with sorting their communication skills and also its second year in a row that weve had toilet/water problems. (July 2019 - Primary School)

(June 2019 - Secondary School)

The site is quite new and this is clear in the high quality of activities on offer. The staff were very professional and helpful throughout. In fact, they couldn't do enough for us. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that I felt there could have been more toilets and showers available to the children who were staying in tents. There were 5 showers for boys and the same for girls and these were shared with another school so in all there were about 150 children using them. It was not too bad but did mean that we had to stagger the children's showering times! (June 2019 - Primary School)

(June 2019 - Secondary School)

Our school went when it had been open for one term. For the seasoned adults have attended many PGL trips there were some gaps but none that were detrimental to the children's experience and enjoyment. We have booked to go back in 2020 (May 2019 - Primary School)

Superb staff and positive atmosphere - they could not have been more helpful in supporting our aims (May 2019 - Secondary School)

(May 2019 - Primary School)

Great experience from the very first moments you arrive. Lovely guide who met us everyday and before each activity so we didn't have to worry about everything. Great experience. (May 2019 - Primary School)

A well organised trip that pupils really enjoyed and gained a lot from. (March 2019 - Primary School)

(March 2019 - Primary School)

(November 2018 - Primary School)

Well organised and effecient (October 2018 - Primary School)

We had such an exciting and full on week. The children absolutely loved the activities (especially the zip wire and giant swing). The surroundings were beautiful as well as the buildings. The food was of high quality with lots of choice. The only issue we found was having 40 children staying in the manor as the rooms were separated by many corridors and fire doors- with adult rooms sometimes quite a way from the children. The rooms were lovely though. All staff were accommodating and friendly. (October 2018 - Primary School)

Well organised and effecient

October 2018 - Primary School
We had such an exciting and full on week. The children absolutely loved the activities (especially the zip wire and giant swing). The surroundings were beautiful as well as the buildings. The food was of high quality with lots of choice. The only issue we found was having 40 children staying in the manor as the rooms were separated by many corridors and fire doors- with adult rooms sometimes quite a way from the children. The rooms were lovely though. All staff were accommodating and friendly.
