The Tower were good at communicating with us on the day with regards to closure of the tower during the King's birthday salute - advance notice of this would have been useful. You can't book until about 3 months ahead - when I came to book the education team for A Level sessions was not available on the day picked (but all other parts of my visit were booked by this point so we had to go ahead anyway). We had a fantastic day out at the Tower of London - the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt lots to bring back to the classroom! The workshop we had was brilliant and really engaging for the children, and the self-led tours were well-resourced so that we could prepare before arriving and make the most of the day. Lunch rooms could be booked which was really useful. We will definitely be visiting again! (March 2022 - Primary School)

(February 2022 - Primary School)

It was slightly different due to Covid restrictions this year, and with designated walkways being in place it was more difficult with younger children to explore exactly where you wanted to. I feel the children were slightly to young to benefit fully from this destination. (February 2022 - Primary School)

Everything went very smoothly, from picking up the wristbands at the Welcome Centre to having time in the lunch room. Toby, our guide for Fire! Fire! was excellent and the children were very well behaved with him because they were engaged. (November 2021 - Primary School)

Amazing day! I was worried that doing a self-led tour would not be as beneficial but it turned out well and children took so much away from the day - especially their understanding of historical sources! (October 2021)

(March 2020 - Primary School)

(February 2020 - Primary School)

Great support with organisation of trip! (February 2020 - Primary School)

Leaving earlier a head of the school day helped with traffic. On arrival the early lunch suited the younger children as they were hungry and they then had less to carry. Groups of 5 worked well with the ratio of 8 adults due to busy location and narrow corridors and rooms etc. Easy to carry out head counts. The extra adults helped with supervision of toilets as there was one way in and a different way out. A male member of staff ensured was a more efficient and faster process. The workshop was brilliant! The story teller was very engaging and knowledgeable. It would have been useful to find out what locations the workshop would be held in to plan for the self-led tours. We left the venue at the perfect time to make it back to school for 3:45pm. Future planning: Plan ahead for cover arrangements/duties to allow for extra staffing. Teach the topic before the visit again as this helped children bring the history to life. (February 2020 - Primary School)

Great location for bringing Tudors to life (February 2020 - Secondary School)

The day was very informative and the story of Duleep Singh really captured students' imaginations. Students in Year 8 produced interesting short pieces of creative writing in response to seeing the Queen's collection of state jewels etc. They will be honing this in subsequent sessions and working with poet Dean Atta in March. (February 2020 - Secondary School)

(January 2020 - Secondary School)

(January 2020 - Primary School)

The trip was successful. The resources downloaded from the TOL site and made into a booklet asked relevant questions to direct them to key Norman features on the route, as well as giving them space to make their own observations. (January 2020 - Primary School)

Many historical features explored about the power of the British Empire, the history of the Tower of London and different Kings / Queens that ruled. In addition, information about the jewels, what we attended for, was very gripping for the children.

It was slightly different due to Covid restrictions this year, and with designated walkways being in place it was more difficult with younger children to explore exactly where you wanted to. I feel the children were slightly to young to benefit fully from this destination.

Everything went very smoothly, from picking up the wristbands at the Welcome Centre to having time in the lunch room. Toby, our guide for Fire! Fire! was excellent and the children were very well behaved with him because they were engaged.

Amazing day! I was worried that doing a self-led tour would not be as beneficial but it turned out well and children took so much away from the day - especially their understanding of historical sources!

February 2020 - Primary School

February 2020 - Secondary School
Great location for bringing Tudors to life

February 2020 - Secondary School
The day was very informative and the story of Duleep Singh really captured students' imaginations. Students in Year 8 produced interesting short pieces of creative writing in response to seeing the Queen's collection of state jewels etc. They will be honing this in subsequent sessions and working with poet Dean Atta in March.

The trip was successful. The resources downloaded from the TOL site and made into a booklet asked relevant questions to direct them to key Norman features on the route, as well as giving them space to make their own observations.

Thoroughly enjoyable trip. Ticket collection was easy and no queues. The details were communicated easily and clearly. The taught session was excellent and totally engaged the children. It linked clearly to our area of learning and helped the children contextualise what we had learnt. So much to see and do around the Tower, the children loved it all. staff were helpful and obliging when answering questions. Year 6 children and staff agreed it was the best trip we had been on for years.
