Field to Fork

A unique outdoor learning experience

Description

Our ‘Field to Fork’ project, which is fully funded by Douglas and Angus Estates, aims to provide an exciting outdoor learning experience which connects children to the countryside, teaching them the importance of farming and giving them a better understanding of where their food comes from and how it gets to their plate, as well as of the environment in which it is produced. This enables them to make more informed choices - about their health, their environment and their impact on producers while giving them a passion for good food. During their visit the children explore the crops we grow in a hands-on way and learn how they become the food we eat, as well as practicing important life-skills as they cook something healthy with these ingredients to take home to share. (During the winter months we offer some in-school visits.) Alternativley, visits can focus on exploring the natural environment, learning about the trees and wildlife that live on the estate.
