This atmospheric Victorian mansion has space for over 100 people, a flagstoned meeting room located in the cellar, and endless period charm. School trips can study biology and geography on site or get involved in a range of activities offered by the hostel, including archery, shelter building, guided walks, fire making and team challenges. Walkers will love having Loughrigg Fell, Silver Howe and the Langdale Pikes on their doorstep.
Boasting a one hundred and forty year-old oak panelled Great Hall and adjacent Drawing Room, with stunning views down to Lake Windermere, Langdale is the centrepiece of the historic High Close Estate which includes sixteen acres of National Trust aboretum, the secluded and beautiful Low Wood and Loughrigg Terrace on the doorstep all waiting to be explored. YHA Langdale is a perfect base for walking groups and field trips, as the fells are literally just outside our door. Take a leisurely walk to unique attractions like the Elterwater Merz Barn, or visit tourist favourites like the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. Adventure seekers are also spoilt for choice, with challenging mountain bike routes, spectacular climbing spots and thrilling watersports nearby.
