Description

Simonsbath House Outdoor Centre established in 2005 is set in 4 acres of land overlooking the Barle Valley in the heart of Exmoor National Park. The Centre is part of the first house built within the Royal Forest of Exmoor and its wealth of history and excellent location makes it an ideal base for Environmental and Outdoor Education.

The Centre is just 7 miles from Watersmeet on the East Lyn River and picturesque Lynmouth with the cliff side railway connecting the town to Lynton.
The centre offers en-suite, centrally heated dormitory accommodation for students and their leaders plus indoor facilities including a large dining room and common room and a fully equipped classroom. The centre also has a small souvenir shop and washing and drying facilities.
The safety and welfare of the residents is of paramount concern and the Centre Manager liaises with the Local Education Authorities and National Governing Bodies to ensure the Health and Safety Policy conforms to meet current requirements. SHOC meets all criteria required by LEA’s to ensure the safety and well being of pupils visiting the centre. The Centre has a Code of Practice by which it operates, containing Risk Assessments, Policy for Positive Behaviour and Discipline, Emergency and Accident Procedures, Fire and Evacuation Procedures, staffing training and licensing agreement with the National Park. All activities are run by qualified and experienced staff and the centre holds £5 million public liability insurance.
Simonsbath House Outdoor Centre provides a wide range of activities taught by qualified and experienced staff in an exciting and challenging environment. Each programme is tailored to meet the group requirements and take into consideration individual needs and abilities within the group.
