RSPB Rainham Marshes

Supporting curriculum-based learning outdoors

Description

Immerse your class in hands-on learning with an educational school visit to our fabulous nature reserve. Our sessions are led by RSPB education professionals who are specialists in their field and able to engage all abilities, while helping you meet your learning objectives.

It's a great opportunity to inspire your children to talk about their science and geography learning while fully engaging in the great outdoors.
- Curriculum linked half or full day sessions
- Varied and well-paced sessions
- Get pupils working scientifically and using technical vocabulary in context
- Build pupils’ resilience and character
- Potential for ongoing learning back in the classroom
From Neolithic forest to a Ministry of Defence rifle range used in both World Wars, Rainham Marshes has a fascinating history.
The marshes are also one of the few remaining ancient grassland and grazing marshes in the UK. This variety of wildlife and habitats provides a fantastic opportunity for all types of field study as your class explores the unique landscape of the marshes.

With our innovative and sustainable Environment and Education Centre, dedicated education discovery zones and the River Thames on our doorstep, the marshes are a safe and inspiring environment for your class to get close to nature.
