The children really enjoyed exploring the castle. The staff were very knowledgeable and informative. The visit was well organised. Disappointed that the staff in the gift shop area made unnecessary comments regarding the children not taking money to spend despite the situation being explained. They were overheard saying 'Come back with your parents and make sure you bring some money next time.' (April 2022 - Primary School)

Friendly and knowledgable staff. The workshops were really exciting and interactive.
It would be even better if the interactive videos in the keep could be triggered to play rather than wait for it to play. Also eating food on a mat on the floor was not ideal. (February 2020 - Primary School)
Great educational visit enjoyed by all (November 2019 - Primary School)
The workshops run by English Heritage were great. They kept the children busy, enabling them to learn lots and make the most of our time visiting the castle. The children have done some great work back in school and I would definitely recommend a visit. (November 2019 - Primary School)
lots of KS1 friendly resources; activity adapted due to inclement weather. (October 2019 - Primary School)
All parts of the castle are accessible. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. We did a self-led visit this time and they made sure that we had ample time in the castle to complete our planned activities. (October 2019 - Primary School)
Excellent trip which gave the children an in site into what it was like in a castle. (September 2019 - Primary School)

A perfect location for younger pupils. The site clearly shows the features of a Motte and Bailey Castle and is small enough to explore in an hour or so.
The led session was great, with lots of resources and with high levels of pupil engagement. (April 2019 - Primary School)
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They kept the children interested and engaged and asked/answered questions. (March 2019 - Primary School)

Brilliant venue and very knowledgeable staff. Angela was very good with the children and all the activities were perfectly pitched for their ability. (February 2019 - Primary School)

Lack of ice pack and first aid kit - staff didn't seem to know what to do to support us with a bumped head. (June 2018 - Primary School)
A fabulous experience for KS1 to have a deeper understanding of castles and their history. (March 2018 - Primary School)
