"Sensory" Family Farm Visits linked to the Curriculum

Description

BRINGING THE CURRICULUM ALIVE through engagement with the outdoor classroom

A family farm with farm shop - Having beef cattle, calves, chickens, lambs, pigs and piglets we offer "tactile" visits with opportunities to get a close, personal, tactile, experience of all animals, mini beasts and pond life available on the farm.

Led by the farmer and his wife, visits are bespoke, offering farm animal tours, pond dipping in a safe and purpose built area, habitat trail for "farm wildlife discovery" based on the Beatrix Potter stories, and importantly the opportunity to find out where your food comes from.

Closely linked to the curriculum, whether it be habitats, signs of spring, animals and their young, mini beast hunts, science and the natural world, maths, art, where your food comes from or confidence building, this farm offers you the chance to make the visit bespoke, lively, imaginative, inspiring, engaging, but most of all fun, memorable and inclusive.

With activities including quizzes, collecting plates, and trails, there are plenty of opportunities for follow up lessons, thank you letters and even a return visit by the farmer to your school.
