YHA Edale Activity Centre

Description

For outdoor adventures in the heart of the Peak District National Park, look no further than YHA Edale Activity Centre. This large country house, set in its own woodland/moorland grounds on the flanks of Kinder Scout, has a unique combination of wildness and accessibility.

Three separate buildings ensure that exclusivity requirements are met whilst the remainder of the site is very much designed with groups in mind – leader rooms are optimally positioned and there are drying rooms, classrooms, meeting areas and outdoor activity sites in abundance. A games room and free WIFI are available to all and all meals can be provided in our dining room with stunning views over the hills.

Nationally famous walking itineraries, cross country mountain bike routes and road cycling challenges all start and finish at our door and the caves, crags and lakes that we use as our outdoor learning venues are all within easy reach of our fleet of minibuses.

Every aspect of our provision is carefully designed to enhance a group’s learning potential and the overall quality of the experience. Education groups, regardless of age, ability or experience will benefit from the fact that our activity programmes are bespoke and devised in collaboration with group leaders. Whatever fully inclusive package is chosen, whether Action Adventure, Multi Activity or Alex Rider, the specifics of activity, venue, content and style are constantly adjusted to optimise all learning opportunity – our returning groups know that it is this attention to detail that makes every experience at Edale memorable and significant.

On-site activities can include archery, high ropes course, orienteering, tower climb/abseil, team building exercises and hill walks/navigation challenges. Off site, our numerous venues ensure the optimum locations for climbing, abseiling, canoeing, caving, raft- building and weaselling, and include themed gritstone or limestone days that combine several activities in one experience.

In June it is too hot in the (full to capacity) dormitories. Well kitted out and set up for such large parties. Great staff with decent experience and cool heads. Some activities too far distant and so time is used in transport. Our fault for choosing them? Would nearby or on-site be longer or just delayed start? (July 2019 - Primary School)

Busy, capable of handling numbers, good kit, good staff (manner with our staff and kids), did what it said on the tin. It's our activity and control of sweets that riles me! (April 2019 - Primary School)

Excellent instructors and activities, very knowledgeable and great with the children. Would not hesitate to recommend. (April 2019 - Primary School)
