Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre

Experience, Learn, Develop

Description

Avon Tyrrell is the Outdoor Activity Centre for UK Youth, a 100 year old Charity that supports young people to realise their potential and is located in the New Forest National Park, Hampshire.

Our Approach - We believe the way to get the best out of young people is to listen to them and offer them opportunities to learn that match their interests. By looking for the positive, rather than the negative, we support young people to achieve things they never thought possible.

Avon Tyrrell provides residential and day visit facilities and activities for all groups of people. We are committed to providing outdoor learning, development training, activity holidays and short breaks for everyone.

We are open to groups (including families) of varying size, ability and background and our expertise is working with young people, making what we do accessible to all, developing and promoting innovative and exciting learning opportunities, helping young people to develop their full potential.

We offer:
A variety of accommodation options to suit all budgets, from full board accommodation in our grade I listed Avon Tyrrell House, to self-catering accommodation in our log cabins and our grounds are also open for camping, using seven small sites scattered across our 65 acre estate.

We provide a range of adventurous and environmental outdoor activity experiences, many relevant to National Curriculum key stages and we design a visit around a group’s specific requirement. Our instructors are all fully qualified and trained to adapt sessions to meet the aims of objectives for each different group, ensuring all our sessions are just what is wanted.

Excellent activities. Accomodation and facilities are a bit dated and had a problem with one of the showers but problems are dealt with quickly. (September 2018 - Primary - Post No: 6535 )

von Tyrell has been outstanding as centre for the three visits we have had and we would recommend it to any other school. They cater for the needs of our students and have a varied and filling menu to get the students through the long days of activites. Instructors are well trained and there are always additional staff around should any support be needed or an issue need dealing with. When we had an emergency on our first trip there the reaction of the management team and the directioning of the staff team was outstanding. They also offered ongoing support for the rest of the week for staff and students. (September 2018 - Secondary - Post No: 6434 )

(February 2018 - Secondary - Post No: 1481 )

The facilities were fantastic, the staff so helpful and willing to do anything to help. (December 2017 - Post No: 317 )
