Old Catton Junior School attended their annual three-day residential with Whitlingham Activity Centre from June 7th - 9th this year. As always, the trip was highly anticipated; the children get to experience such a wonderful range of water sports at a brilliant facility. The staff at Whitlingham are experts - they really bring out the best in the children and focus on key pastoral elements, such as building bravery and resilience, as well as creating a wonderful and exciting outdoors experience. Thank you to all the Whitlingham team for another wonderful residential: Norfolk is very lucky to have you. (June 2023 - Primary School)

Overall comments from pupils attending were generally good as they got to do two activities in one day. Pupils were however off the water (in some cases) up to 40 minutes before the end of activity time. This, in addition to a very long safety brief, meant that time on the water was minimal. Some of the activities were led by enthusiastic instructors but some delivered activities that led to pupils not being fully engaged. One activity was poorly conceived and led to an injury to a pupil which ruled him out of any further activity for the rest of the week. There appeared to be conflicting information about parking and a dispute between a rowing/sailing club which affected the trip arriving on two occasions. Overall whilst there were some positives, I believe for the age group of pupils attending and the overall experience, this was not value for money and we will not be returning. (July 2022)

We had a fantastic couple of hours canoeing on the lake. The Covid measures put in place meant that we felt the equipment had been cleaned and due to the activity being outside and pupils were only in a canoe with their own bubble, it could not have been more reassuring. The activities were led well and lots of fun after a tricky year - would thoroughly recommend. (July 2021 - Primary School)
