Field Studies Council - Nettlecombe Court

Leading Provider of Geography and Science (Biology) Fieldwork

Description

The Field Studies Council is a charity that aims to bring environmental understanding to all. We believe the more we know about and take inspiration from the world around us the more we can appreciate its needs and protect its diversity and beauty for future generations.

One of the many ways we do this is by providing well-designed, expertly delivered educational experiences for school groups, set in some of the UK's most stunning locations. Each year over 3,000 school groups, from key stage 1 to university level, visit our centres for geography or science (biology) fieldwork and cross-curricular environmental activity courses.

Field Studies Council's Nettlecombe Court centre lies in a secluded valley at the eastern edge of Exmoor National Park. The house is a striking example of a Tudor and Georgian country mansion set within its own grounds. The Centre has excellent access to the Somerset coast as well as Exmoor National Park and The Quantocks Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

I usually rate 5 stars, but unfortunately, the tuition was not the expected standard (October 2021 - Secondary School)

Total emersion in the NEA processes has enabled understanding of what is required for their NEA which accounts for 20% of the final marks. Nettlecombe are incredibly knowledgable at delivering the skills necessary for this (October 2021 - Secondary School)

The tuition provided by Mark was outstanding. He pushed the students to think for themselves and curate effective investigation titles and design frameworks. The food was very good - some delicious suppers including lasagna and chicken pie. Some other meals were a little more disappointing e.g. jacket potatoes without butter. The standard of cleaning was very good, although we struggled with loo paper for the last 24 hours of the trip. Overall, the staff we saw could not have been more helpful. The students really enjoyed themselves and we are hopeful for excellent NEA outcomes. (June 2021 - Secondary School)

Excellent provider as usual. (June 2021 - Secondary School)

Excellent standard of tuition - the course was expertly tailored to our needs and requests. The standard of catering and accommodation was also excellent. (October 2019 - Secondary School)
