Immerse your class in hands-on learning with an educational school visit to our fabulous nature reserve. Our sessions are led by RSPB education professionals who are specialists in their field and able to engage all abilities, while helping you meet your learning objectives.
It's a great opportunity to inspire your children to talk about their science and geography learning while fully engaging in the great outdoors.
- Curriculum linked half or full day sessions
- Varied and well-paced sessions
- Get pupils working scientifically and using technical vocabulary in context
- Build pupils’ resilience and character
- Potential for ongoing learning back in the classroom
Our Avalon Marshes reserves, including Ham Wall, lie within the northern part of the Somerset Levels, about two miles west of Glastonbury.
Steeped in history, archaeology, wildlife and atmosphere, there is so much for your class to explore.
Our exciting variety of hands-on activities ensure memorable learning experiences throughout the year. Boardwalks, hides and viewing platforms enable groups to experience the wetland wildlife of Avalon Marshes at close quarters.
We've got a visitor centre with indoor space available for classes, a boardwalk, pond-dipping platforms and much more for you to explore!
Our work at Avalon Marshes is kindly supported by Natural England
