The Calshot Experience is a unique mix of physical and academic activities, which, when combined with the friendly, professional approach of our staff, provides some of the best outdoor and environmental education in Britain today. The instructors at Calshot are able to challenge and enthuse students whatever their physical or academic abilities. The residential experience plays an important role in the development of interpersonal skills, as well as having a positive effect upon self-confidence, self-esteem and both academic and social success. The Calshot Experience aims to ensure that students will leave with a better understanding of themselves and others, along with personal experiences which they will value and remember long after they have left.

Field Studies- rivers, the Solent, beach and coastline, New Forest, Tudors, A-Level geography and biology
Watersports-sailing, kayaking, windsurfing
Landsports-skiing, climbing, track cycling, archery, high/low ropes, orienteering

Fantastic trip, the centre provided excellent team building and challenging activities for us.
Confusion over coach booking, led the trip to be curtailed by 1 hour which impacted our activities and feedback session. In future the return time should be the time we leave the venue and not the time we return to school. (September 2022 - Primary School)

We were surprised to be sharing our accomodation block, and I feel that this could have been communicated better prior to our arrival. We also had lots of different instructors, where on previous residentials we have had one main instructor per group. Several of our children with SEND found this change of staff challenging. Calshot managed to provide a fantastic residential experience to our children, despite the additional challenges of the Covid restrictions. Once again, food was a little bit of a disappointment and the residence itself was too hot on the first night for children to settle. (June 2021 - Primary School)

The centre was brilliant, engaging activities and the thing that helped it so much was the staff. All three instructors were outstanding with the kids. Staff who work at Calshot in the field studies centre are fabulous. Activities staff are also good on the whole - happy to adapt sessions as needed. Children really enjoyed their week. Staff and facilities were excellent. Feedback from most pupils was very positive and overall it had been a very positive experience. Feedback from some pupils was negative about food options, food amounts and luke warm food. There were also comments about luke warm/cold showers in the morning, but this was not every morning.
