Description

The original Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre, opened on the 9th May 2014, is our flagship centre based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. Sailing in Portland Harbour gives us the benefit of sea sailing, but in a safe and enclosed environment giving versatility to all watersports sessions. We are lucky to have a consistent wind and great conditions for sailing all year round. World-class facilities, the best waters in Northern Europe, extensive and high-quality watersports kit and a fantastic team of experienced watersports and outdoor adventure instructors. Portland has it all!

We offer outdoor adventure activities for schools, groups and individuals in a range of watersports so whether you want to Sail, Kayak or Stand up Paddleboard we have sessions suitable for all levels, ages and abilities.

We also offer watersports sessions for adults. Sailing courses are available for those who wish to learn to sail, developing dinghy sailing technique or to further sail racing skills.

Superb staff, very well organised and confident working with children of this age with a variety of needs. Katie in particular worked hard to support children to get back on the water when their confidence dipped. Drew had excellent pace and explanations which kept the children engaged throughout. The Andrew Simpson Centre is a wonderful sailing club that made sure that all students we safe and comfortable when taking part in all activities. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the club is able to provide the majority of equipment needed. The children only require, swimsuits, towels and closed-toe shoes. We would recommend that children bring an extra pair of shoes. One pair to go sailing in (as they become quite wet) and another pair for travel. We have learnt our lesson!
